The Return of Jesus and the End Times (Islamic Sunni Salafi perspective)

Ibn Abbas said, "When Jesus was raised up into the Heavens, a cloud approached him until it was close enough for him to sit upon. Mary (his mother) bid him farewell crying with tears as she watched him being raised up into the Heavens. Jesus threw her his garment saying, "This (ascension) will be our Sign until Judgement Day." He threw his hood on Sha'moun (Simon). His mother kept waiving her hand to him until he disappeared out of view completely. She loved him dearly, as she offered him the love of both parents, seeing as he had no father, and she constantly kept him company. Allah, the Almighty says [And there is none of the People of the Book but must believe in him (Jesus) before his death] (Quran 4:159) Ibn Kathir added: This is the truth as will become evident shortly and will be coupled with conclusive proofs. At the End of Time and right before the onset of the Day of Judgment, Jesus will descend back to Earth to kill the Antichrist Dajjal, kill the swine, break the cross, and abolish Jizya Tax from the People of the Book, who will be given two choices; either to accept Islam... or War. Allah, the Almighty says [And on the Day of Judgment he (Jesus) will be a witness against them] (Quran 4:159) i.e. he will testify to all their actions which he bore witness to before his ascension to Heaven and after his return to Earth." [The Islamic view of Jesus by Ibn Katheer p.92/93]
