Marriage In Islam ~ By Imam Anwar Al-Awlaki

This is a lecture about marriage. Subhan'Allaah these days for a muslims it is simply a mission to get married.

If one asks a person for marriage the family will ask about their job or their income not about deen.

Then there is the issue of parents making it hard on their children to marry.

Here is a part extracted from a lecture of Anwar Awlaki about marriage he talks about the time of the shabas and how easy it was back then and they wer best of people and they would offer their daughters then and we make things impossible fpr marriage may Allaah guide us to his stright and simple religion and easy to follow religion. Marriage in Islam is recommended as a religious requirement.
"Marry those among you who are single and (marry) your slaves, male and female, that are righteous" (Quran 24:32)

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) declared:
"When the servant of Allah marries, he has fulfilled half the (responsibilities laid on him by the) faith; so let him be God conscious with respect to the other half". (Mishkat)

Marriage has also been commended as the way of the prophets.
"We indeed sent messengers before you (O Muhammad), and We assigned them wives and children". (Quran 13:38)

Marriage, in fact, is specifically considered the tradition (sunnah) of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) when he declared:
"Marriage is my Sunnah, whoever disregards my (sunnah) path is not from among us". (ibn Majah)

Islam discourages celibacy and encourages marriage, as Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) recommended:
"Whoever is able to marry, should marry". (Bukhari)

The Prophet peace be upon him said, "If someone whose faith and morals you trust makes a proposal of marriage to you then marry him, otherwise there will be trials and much corruption in the land."

As Muslims it is also our duty to support our brothers and sisters to get married because Allah says in the Quran, "And help to get married those among you who are single or the virtuous ones of your slaves, males or females. If they are in poverty Allah will give them means out of His grace. For Allah encompasses all and knows all things." (Al-Noor 24:32)
