Astaghfirallah… Bismillahi Tawakkaltu al-Allah wala haula wa la quata illa billah.---And It is Only Allah Who grants success. May Allah Exalt the mention of His slave and Messenger Muhammad, and render him, his household and companion safe from Evil.
Abu Hurairah Radiyallahu ‘anhu narrates: 'I heard my loving friend, Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam saying: The jewelery of a Mu'min (on the Day of Resurrection) will cover to the places where the water of ablution reaches.' (Muslim)
Abu Hurairah Radiyallahu ‘anhu narrates: I heard Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam saying: 'My Ummah will be called on the Day of Resurrection with their limbs and faces shining from traces of Wudu. So whoever amongst you can increase the area of his radiance should do so (i.e. by performing Wudu regularly)'. (Bukhari)
‘Uthmãn ibne-’Affãn Radiyallahu ‘anhu narrates that Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam said: 'Anyone who performs Wudu, and performs Wudu excellently (meaning thereby to carefully observe all the etiquettes), his sins will come out from his body, even coming out from under his nails.' (Muslim)
Note: The opinion of the majority of the scholars is that minor sins, are forgiven by Allah Ta'ala through Wudu, Salat and other forms of worship. The major sins, are forgiven by Istighfâr (seeking forgiveness) and Taubah (turning towards Allah with repentance). However, Allah Ta'ala by his bountiful Grace, may even forgive the major sins by virtue of above deeds. (Nawawi)
Abu Umämah Radiyallahu ‘anhu narrates that Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam said: 'Whoever stands up to perform his Wudu, intending to offer Salat, then cleans his hands, the sins of his two hands fallout with the first drop of water. Then, when he rinses his mouth, and draws water into his nose and expels it, the sins of his tongue and two lips fallout with the first drop of water. Then, as he cleans his face, the sins of his hearing and seeing fallout with the first drop (of water). Then, when be cleans his two arms past the elbows and his two feet past the ankles, he becomes free of all his offenses and sins, just as he was, the day his mother gave him birth. He (then) said: When he stands for Salat Allah elevates his position, and if he (merely) sits (without standing for Salat ) even then his sitting is free of sins.' (Musnad Ahmad)
lbne -‘Umar Radiyallahu ‘anhuma narrates that Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam said: 'For a person who performs Wudu (while already) in a state of purity, for him ten virtues are written'.(Abu Däwüd)
Note: Islamic scholars have written that condition for making fresh Wudu, while already in a state of Wudu, is that one has performed any form of worship with the previous Wudu. (Badhl-ul-Majhud)
Abu Hurairah Radiyallahu ‘anhu narrates that Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam said: 'Were it not (for the fear) of overburdening my Ummah, I would have ordered them to (brush their teeth with) Siwak at every Salat.' (Muslim)
Note: Siwäk or Miswaak is a natural tooth brush prepared from the roots or branches of various trees and bushes. The most common and beneficial is that of the root of the Salvadora Persica, a wild desert plant known in Arabic as Arak, and in Urdu as Peelu.
Among the great seasons of worship are the first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah, which Allaah has favoured over other days. It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allaah than these ten days.” They said: “Not even jihad for the sake of Allaah?” He said: “Not even jihad for the sake of Allaah, unless a man goes out himself for jihad taking his wealth with him and does not come back with anything.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 2/457
It was also narrated from Anas (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There is no deed that is better before Allaah or more greatly rewarded than a good deed done in the (first) ten days of al-Adha.” It was said: “Not even jihad for the sake of Allaah?” He said: “Not even jihad for the sake of Allaah, unless a man goes out himself for jihad taking his wealth with him and does not come back with anything.” Narrated by al-Daarimi, 1/357; its isnaad is hasan as stated in al-Irwa’, 3/398.
These texts and others indicate that these ten days are better than all other days of the year, with no exception, even the last ten days of Ramadaan. But the last ten nights of Ramadaan are better than the first ten nights of Dhu’l-Hijjah, because they include Laylat al-Qadr, which is better than a thousand months. See Tafseer Ibn Katheer, 5/412.
So the Muslim should start these days with sincere repentance to Allaah, then he should do a lot of righteous deeds in general, then he should pay attention to doing the following deeds:
1 – Fasting
It is Sunnah for the Muslim to fast on the first nine days of Dhu’l-Hijjah, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) encouraged us to do righteous deeds in the first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah, and fasting is one of the best of deeds, which Allaah has chosen for Himself as it says in the hadeeth qudsi: “Allaah says: ‘All the deeds of the son of Adam are for him, except fasting, which is for Me and I shall reward for it.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1805.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to fast on the first nine days of Dhu’l-Hijjah. It was narrated from Hunaydah ibn Khaalid from his wife, that one of the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to fast on the first nine days of Dhu’l-Hijjah and the day of ‘Ashoora’, and three days each month, the first Monday of the month and two Thursdays. Narrated by al-Nasaa’i, 4/205 and by Abu Dawood; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 2/462.
2 – Reciting tahmeed, tahleel and takbeer a great deal
It is Sunnah to recite takbeer (saying Allaahu akbar (Allaah is most great)), tahmeed (saying al-hamdu Lillah (praise be to Allaah)), tahleel (saying Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah (There is no god but Allaah)) and tasbeeh (saying Subhaan-Allaah (Glory be to Allaah)), during the first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah, saying these words out loud in the mosques, homes, streets and every place in which it is permissible to remember Allaah, to perform this act of worship openly and proclaim the greatness of Allaah.
Men should recite out loud and women should recite quietly.
Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“That they may witness things that are of benefit to them (i.e. reward of Hajj in the Hereafter, and also some worldly gain from trade), and mention the Name of Allaah on appointed days, over the beast of cattle that He has provided for them (for sacrifice)”
[al-Hajj 22:28]
The majority are of the view that the “appointed days” are the first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah, because it was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the appointed days are the first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah.
It was narrated from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There are no days that are greater before Allaah or in which good deeds are more beloved to Him, than these ten days, so recite a great deal of tahleel, takbeer and tahmeed during them.” Narrated by Ahmad, 7/224; its isnaad was classed as saheeh by Ahmad Shaakir.
The takbeer is as follows:
Allaah akbar, Allaahu akbar, laa ilaaha ill-Allaah, Allaahu akbar, wa Lillaah il-hamd (Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, there is no god but Allaah; Allaah is Most Great and to Allaah be praise).
And there are other versions.
This takbeer has become a forsaken Sunnah nowadays, especially at the beginning of these ten days. You can hardly hear it except from a few. It should be recited out loud, so as to revive the Sunnah and remind the heedless. It was proven that Ibn ‘Umar and Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with them both) used to go out to the marketplace during the first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah, reciting the takbeer our loud, and the people would recite takbeer when they heard them, i.e., the people would remember the talkbeer and each one would recite it by himself; it does not mean that they recited in unison – that is not prescribed in sharee’ah.
Reviving Sunnahs that have been forgotten brings a great deal of reward, as is indicated by the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him): “Whoever revives one of my Sunnahs that has died out after I am gone, will have a reward like that of everyone who does it, without that detracting from their reward in the slightest.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 7/443; this hadeeth is hasan because of corroborating reports.
3 – Doing Hajj and ‘Umrah
One of the greatest deeds that can be done during these ten days is Hajj to the sacred House of Allaah. Whoever Allaah helps to go on Hajj to His House and do the rituals in the required manner will – in sha Allaah – be included in the words of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him): “An accepted Hajj brings no less a reward than Paradise.”
4 – Udhiyah (sacrifice)
One of the righteous deeds that bring a person closer to Allaah in these ten days is to slaughter the sacrifice and to look for a good, fat animal and to spend money on it for the sake of Allaah.
Let us hasten to make the most of these great days, before the negligent regrets what he did, and before he asks to go back and receives no response.
After the destruction of the Ad, the tribe of Thamud succeeded them in power and glory. They also fell to idol-worshipping. As their material wealth increased so, too, did their evil ways while their virtue decreased. Like the people of Ad, they erected huge buildings on the plains and hewed beautiful homes out of the hills. Tyranny and oppression became prevalent as evil men ruled the land.
So Allah sent unto them His Prophet Salih (PBUH), a man from among them. His name was Salih Ibn Ubeid, Ibn Maseh, Ibn Ubeid, Ibn Hader, Ibn Thamud, Ibn Ather, Ibn Eram, Ibn Nuh. He called his people to worship Allah alone, and to not associate partners with Him. While some of them believed him, the majority of them disbelieved and harmed him by both words and deeds. Salih directed them: "O my people! Worship Allah, you have no other Ilah (god) but Him." (11:61)
Salih was known for his wisdom, purity and goodness and had been greatly respected by his people before Allah's revelation came to him. Salih's people said to him: "O Salih! You have been among us as a figure of good hope and we wished for you to be our chief, till this, new thing which you have brought that we leave our gods and worship your God (Allah) alone! Do you now forbid us the worship of what our fathers have worshipped? But we are really in grave doubt as to that which you invite us to monotheism." (11:62 Quran).
they merely wanted to worship the same gods as their fathers had, with no reason, no proof, no thought. The proof of Salih's (PBUH) message was evident, but despite this it was obvious that most of his people did not believe him. They doubted his words, thinking he was charmed, and they saw that he would not stop preaching. Fearing that his followers would increase, they tried to put him off by assigning him an important task; to prove that he was a messenger of Allah by performing a miracle. Let a unique she camel issue from the mountains.
Allah granted Salih this miracle and a huge, unique, she camel appeared from the direction of the mountain. The Quranic commentators said that the people of Thamud gathered on a certain day at their meeting place, and the prophet Salih (PBUH) came and addressed them to believe in Allah, reminding them of the favors Allah had granted them.
Then pointing at a rock, they demanded: "Ask your Lord to make a she camel, which must be 10 months pregnant, tall and attractive, issue from the rock for us."
Salih replied: "Look now! If Allah sends you what you have requested, just as you have described, will you believe in that which I have come to you with and have faith in the message I have been sent with?"
They answered: "Yes."
So he took a vow from them on this, then prayed to Allah the Almighty to grant their request. Allah ordered the distant rock to split asunder, to bringing forth a great ten month pregnant she camel. When their eyes set on it, they were amazed. They saw a great thing, a wonderful sight, a dazzling power and clear evidence!
A number of Salih's people believed, yet most of them continued in their disbelief, stubbornness, and going astray. Allah the Almighty said: We sent the she camel to Thamud as a clear sign, but they did her wrong. (17:59)
and also: Verily the dwellers of Al Hijr (the rocky tract) denied the Messengers. We gave them Our Signs, but they were averse to them. (15:80-81 Quran)
There are a number of ancient accounts of this camel and its miraculous nature. It was said that the she camel was miraculous because a rock in the mountain split open and it came forth from it, followed by its young offspring. Other accounts said that the she camel used to drink all the water in the wells in one day, and no other animals could approach the water. Still others claimed that the she camel produced milk sufficient for all the people to drink, on the same day that it drank all the water, leaving none for them.
At first, the people of Thamud were greatly surprised when the she camel issued from the mountain rocks. It was a blessed camel, and its milk sufficient for thousands of men, women and children. If it slept in a place that place was abandoned by other animals. Thus it was obvious that is was not an ordinary camel, but one of Allah's signs. It lived among Salih's people, some of whom believed in Allah while the majority continued in their obstinacy and disbelief.
Their hatred of Salih turned towards the blessed she camel and became centered on it. A conspiracy started to be hatched against the camel by the disbeliveers, and they secretly plotted against it.
Salih feared that they might kill the camel, so he warned them: "O my people! This she camel of Allah is a sign to you, leave her to feed on Allah's earth, and touch her not with evil lest a near torment will seize you." (11:64 Quran)
For awhile, Salih's people let the camel graze and drink freely, but in their hearts they hated it. However, the miraculous appearance of the unique camel caused many to become Salih's followers, and they clung to their belief in Allah.
the disbeliveers now began complaining that this huge she camel with its unusual qualities drank most of the water and frightened their cattle.
They laid a plot to kill the camel, and sought the help of their women folk to tempt the men to carry out their commands. Saduq bint of Mahya, who was from a rich and noble family, offered herself to a young man named Masrai Ibn Mahraj on condition that he hamstring the camel. Aniza, an old woman, offered one of her daughters to a young man, Qudar Ibn Saluf, in return for killing the camel. Naturally these young men were tempted and set about finding seven others to assist them.
They watched the camel closely, observing all its movements. As the she camel came to drink at the well, Masarai shot it in the leg with an arrow. It tried to escape but was hampered by the arrow. Qudar followed the camel and struck it with a sword in the other leg. As it fell to the ground, he pierced it with his sword.
The killers were given a hero's welcome,cheered with songs and poetry composed in their praise. In their arrogance they mocked Salih, but he warned them: "Enjoy life for 3 more days then the punishment will descend upon you." Salih was hoping that they would see the folly of their ways and change their attitude before the 3 days went out.
"Why 3 days?" they asked. "Let the punishment come as quickly as possible."
He pleaded with them: "My people, why do you hasten to evil rather than good? Why do not you ask pardon of Allah so that you may receive mercy?"
They replied: "We see your presence and that of your followers as bringing evil on us."
Almighty Allah related their story: And indeed We sent to Thamud their brother Salih, saying "Worship Allah Alone and none else." Then look! They became two parties (believers and disbeliveers) quarreling with each other.
He said: "O my people! Why do you seek to hasten the evil (torment) before the good (Allah's Mercy)? Why seek you not the Forgiveness of Allah, that you may receive mercy?" They said: We augur till omen from you and those with you." he said: "Your ill omen is with Allah; nay, but you are a people that are being tested."
And there were in the city nine men (from the sons of their chiefs), who made mischief in the land, and would not reform. They said: "Swear to another by Allah that we shall make a secret night attack on him and his household, and afterwards we will surely say to his near relatives: "We witnessed not the destruction of his household, and verily! We are telling the truth.""
So they plotted a plot, and We planned a plan, while they perceived not. Then see how was the end of their plot! Verily! We destroyed them and their nation, all together. These are their houses in utter ruin, for they did wrong. Verily, in this is indeed an Ayah (a lesson or a sign) for people who know. We saved those who believed, and used to fear and obey Allah. (27:45-53 Quran)
They also plotted to kill Salih and his household as Almighty Allah stated: "So they ploa plot, and We planned a plan, while they perceived not." (27:50 Quran) Allah saved Salih and his followers from their wicked plans. Heavy hearted, they left the evil doers and moved to another place.
Three days after Salih's warning, thunderbolts filled the air, followed by severe earthquakes which destroyed the entire tribe and its homeland. The land was violently shaken, destroying all living creatures in it. There was one terrific cry which had hardly ended when the disbeliveers of Salih's people were struck dead, one and all, at the same time. Neither their strong buildings nor their rock hewn homes could protect them.
Allah the Exalted said: To Thamud people We sent their brother Salih. HE said: "O my people! Worship Allah, you have no other Ilah (god) but Him (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah). Indeed there has come to you a clear sign ( the miracle of the coming out of a huge she camel from the midst of a rock) from your Lord. This she camel of Allah is a sign unto you so you leave her to graze in Allah's earth, and touch her not with harm, lest a painful torment should size you. Remember when He made you successors after Ad people and gave you habitations in the land, you build for yourselves palaces in plains and carve out homes in the mountains. So remember the graces bestowed upon you from Allah, and do not go about making mischief on the earth."
the leaders of those who were arrogant among his people said to those who were counted weak to such of them as believed: "Know you that Salih is one sent from his Lord." They said: "We indeed believe in that with which he has been sent." Those who were arrogant said: "Verily, we disbelieve in that which you believe in."
So they killed the she camel and insolently defied the Commandment of their Lord, and said: "O Salih! Bring about your threats if you are indeed one of the Messengers (of Allah)." So the earthquakes seized them and they lay dead, prostrate in their homes. Then he (Salih) turned from them, and said: "O my people! I have indeed conveyed to you the Message of my Lord, and have give you good advise but you like not good advisers." (7:73-79 Quran)
All were destroyed before they realized what was happening. As for the people who believed in the message of Salih (PBUH), they were saved because they had left the place.
Ibn Umar narrated that while the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was passing by Thamud's houses on his way to the battle of Tabuk, he stopped together with the people there. the people fetched water from the wells from which the people of Thamud used to drink. They prepared their dough (for baking) and filled their water skins from it (the water from the wells). The Prophet of Allah (PBUH) ordered them to empty the water skins and give the prepared dough to the camels. Then he went away with them until they stopped at the well from which the she camel (of Salih) used to drink. He warned them against entering upon the people that had been punished, saying "I fear that you may be affected by what afflicted them; so do no enter upon them."
Mu'awiyah ibn Abi Sufyan the 1st caliph of the Umayyad dynasty (661-750 AD) moved the capital of the Muslim Empire from Medina north towards Damascus. From Damascus, the Muslim empire expanded tremendously. The Umayyads gave the world a number of architectural legacies including the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem and the Great Mosque in Damascus.
In the Jordanian desert the Umayyads built pavilions, caravan stations, secluded baths and hunting lodges known as Desert Castles. Filled with mosaic pavements, fresco paintings, carved stucco depicting people, animals, events and patterns; Desert Castles stand as monuments to the spectacular and original early Islamic art.
On a hilltop, not far from Jerash, you can visit the shrine of Prophet Hud Peace be Upon Him. Here is a modern mosque with a cave inside where Prophet Hud Peace be Upon Him is believed buried. He preached to the people of Ad to only worship the One God The One and Only God instead of their idols. Prophet Hud Peace be Upon Him has the 11th Sura in the Holy Qur'an named after him.
Known in Arabic as Fahl, Pella was the site of the famous Battle of Fahl, fought between Byzantines and the Muslim army led by Khalid ibn Al-Walid May Allah be Pleased with Him and Abu Ubeida Amer ibn Al-Jarrah May Allah be Pleased with Him in January 635 AD. The outcome was a Muslim victory and liberation of Jordan from Byzantine rule.
Allah the Almighty states: And to Ad people We sent their brother Hud. He said: "O my people! Worship Allah! You have no other Ilah (god) but Him; certainly, you do nothing but invent (lies)! O my people I ask of you no reward for it (the Message). My reward is only from Him Who created me. Will you not then understand? And O my people! Ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him, He will send you (from the sky) abundant rain, and add strength to your strength, so do not turn away as Mujrimeen (criminals, disbeliveers in the Oneness of Allah)."
They said: "O Hud! No evidence have you brought us and we shall not leave our gods for your mere saying! We are not believers in you. All that we say is that some of our gods (false deities) have seized you with evil (madness)."
HE said: "I call Allah to witness and bear you witness that I am free from that which you ascribe as partners in worship, and with Him (Allah). SO plot against me, all of you, and give me no respite. I put my trust in Allah, my Lord and your Lord! There is not a moving (living) creature but HE has grasp of its forelock. Verily, my Lord is on the Straight Path (the truth). SO if you turn away, still I have conveyed the Message with which I was sent to you. My Lord will make another people succeed you, and you will not harm Him in the least. Surely, my Lord is Guardian over all things." ( 11:50-57 Quran)
Allah recounts his people's attitude towards the Day of Judgment: "The chiefs of his people, whom disbelieved and denied the meeting in the Hereafter, and to who We had given the luxuries and comforts of this life, said: "He is no more than a human being like you, he eats of that which you eat, and drinks of what you drink. If you were to obey a human being like yourselves then verily! You indeed would be losers. Does he promise you that when you have died and have become dust and bones, you shall come out alive (resurrected)? Far, very far, is that which you are promised. There is nothing but our life of this world! We die and we live! We are not going to be resurrected! He is only a man who has invented a lie against Allah, but we are not going to believe in him." (23:33-38 Quran) (more)
Almighty Allah repeated their words in the Quran: "O my Hud! No evidence have you brought us, and we shall not leave our gods for your mere saying! And we are not believers in you. All that we say is that some of our gods (false deities) have seized you with evil (madness)." (11:53-54 Quran)
Hud had to return their challenge. He had no other way but to turn to Allah alone, no other alternative but to give them a threatening ultimatum. he declared to them: "I call Allah to witness and bear you witness that I am free from that which you ascribe as pin worship with Him (Allah). SO plot against me, all of you and give me no respite. I put my trust in Allah, my Lord your Lord! There is not a moving (living) creature but He has grasp of its forelock. Verily, my Lord is on the Straight Path (the truth). So if you turn away, still I have conveyed the message with which it was sent to you. My Lord will make another people succeed you, and you will not harm Him." (11:54-57 Quran)
Hud's people started to flee. They ran to their tents to hide but the gale became stronger, ripping their tents from their stakes. They hid under cloth covers but the gale became stronger and still and tore away the covers. It slashed clothing and skin. It penetrated the apertures of the body and destroyed it. It hardly touched anything before it was destroyed or killed, its core sucked out to decompose and rot. The storm raged for 8 days and 7 nights.
Almighty Allah recounts: Then when they saw it as a dense cloud coming towards their valleys, they said: "This is a cloud bringing us rain!" Nay but it is that torment which you were asking to be hastened! a wind wherein is a painful torment! Destroying everything by the command of its Lord! (46:24-25 Quran)
Allah the Exalted described it thus: And as for Ad, they were destroyed for a firious violent wind which Allah imposed on them for 7 nights and 8 days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed) as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees! (Ch 69:6-7 Quran)
That violent gale did not stop until the entire region was reduced to ruins and its wicked people destroyed, swallowed by the sands of the desert. Only Hud and his followers remained unharmed. They migrated to Hadramaut and lived there in peace, worshipping Allah, their true Lord.
And Warn Them of the Day of Regret from Islam Guide by Abdul Wahiyd Yahya
Commanding His Prophet in the Qur’an, Almighty Allah says:
(And warn them of the Day of regret, as the Command is decreed, and they are in a state of heedlessness, and they do not believe.) (Maryam 19:39)
On that day horrors of unspeakable scale will be seen, no way of escape will be found and all hopes for salvation will be dashed. That will be the condition of disbelievers who led their lives in this world in denial and heedlessness of Allah’s religion and far removed from His obedience. All sources of trouble and pain in this world pale in comparison to one moment spent in Hell. This can be better imagined when we think of the fact that Hell represents the boundless power and might of Allah. Can there possibly be anything more painful and dreadful? Of course, the answer is: no.
This is the most important day in everyone’s life. Your graduation day is not that important, nor is your wedding day. If there comes a day when you will be the wealthiest and most successful in your community or even in the whole world, that day too is not important. What is all-important is:
(The Day when the Spirit and the Angels rise up in ranks, they will not speak, except him (to) whom The All-Merciful has given permission and who speaks right. That is the True Day. So whoever decides, should seek a resorting to his Lord. Surely We have warned you of a near torment on the Day when a person will look at whatever his hands have forwarded, and the disbeliever will say, “Oh, would that I were dust!”) (An-Naba’ 78: 38-40)
Nevertheless, the majority of people direct the most attention to this fleeting and imperfect life. They focus on this short span of life, thinking it to be so long. The main goal they pursue is to succeed in life, surpass everyone else in terms of prestige, power and wealth. Sadly, they forget that all such things will be of no value when they are put into the soil, completely alone. Though different in faith, many people on earth are well aware that there is life after death and that there will come a day when each individual will render account of what he or she said and did. But, surprisingly, most of them assume an attitude of forgetting or ignoring that tremendous day.
You need to stop and think: What am I doing here? What are my goals and wishes? Where am I heading for? Who are the persons and what are the things that I love most? Will they remain there forever? Will we not part ways one day? Will they leave me or I will be the one leaving? Am I prepared for such departure after which there will never be a point of return? Is my Lord pleased with me? Will He admit me to His beautiful Paradise where I will dwell in happiness, security and tranquility for all eternity; or Hell will be my deserved abode?
Not a GameIn a Qur’anic verse, Almighty Allah says:
(And in no way did We create the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them both, playing.) (Ad-Dukhan 44: 38)
This and numerous other verses inform us that the matter is so serious, that we are here for a short, yet hard, test, and that the result will be an eternal life lived either in a place of indescribable beauty or another of unimaginable horror and torment. If this is the case, then how can people fearlessly engage in all sorts of unlawful and immoral acts that incur their Lord’s displeasure upon them? How can they remain indifferent after hearing this warning from Allah the Almighty?
(O you mankind, be pious to your Lord; surely the earthquake of the Hour is a tremendous thing. On the Day you will see it, every suckling female will get distracted away from whatever she has suckled, and every pregnant female will lay down her burden; and you see mankind drunken, and in no way are they drunken but the torment of Allah is strict.) (Al-Hajj 22: 1,2)
Recognizing the severity of the matter, every wise person should rush to please His Lord and draw closer and closer to Him and shun every deed He disapproves of. For example, those who deal with fellow human beings arrogantly and are so sensitive when it comes to their status and prestige should remember that worms will not hesitate to eat their lifeless bodies without any regard to their hard-earned status and prestige. In fact, worms do not differentiate between a king, who only a few hours before was obeyed by the entire population he was ruling, and a beggar who led a life of humiliation and lowliness. Such a person should beware of that weighty Day when he will stand bare and all alone in front of his Lord to give his account. No guard, beloved one, influential figure or even the most powerful army on earth can come to his aide. So, he should prepare in advance for that lest he may be among the regretful losers, at a time no regret will ever avail or loss be compensated.
When Almighty Allah speaks about this test and its result in the hereafter, He speaks in these terms:
(And vie swiftly with one another for forgiveness from your Lord and for a Garden whose breadth is the heavens and the earth, prepared for the pious.) (Aal-`Imran 3:133)Regarding the worldly life, He says:
(He is (The One) Who made the earth tractable to you; so walk in its territories and eat of His provision; and to Him is the Rising up.) (Al-Mulk 67:15)
Surprisingly, most people do quite the opposite: vying for worldly things and showing indifference when it comes to their real life—the hereafter. The following hadith accounts for this conduct. Abu Hurairah reported that Allah's Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "The (Hell) Fire is surrounded by all kinds of desires and passions, while Paradise is surrounded by all kinds of disliked and undesirable things." (Al-Bukhari)
So, perseverance and strenuous efforts are required for passing this test. If a person aims at purchasing a luxurious house, he spent many years of hard work to attain his goal, just to leave it behind for his descendants. What about the eternal abode of bliss and ease! Does it not deserve harder work and more precious sacrifices? Indeed, it does. However, most of us are keen on populating and embellishing our worldly homes, where we are doomed to stay for only a short time, and neglecting the homes of eternal stay. We need to demolish the bridges of attachment to the allurements of this transient life and aspire for what is permanent. A believer may, and even should, make endeavors to be knowledgeable, wealthy and powerful, yet with the aim of being a sound and durable brick in a sound and durable Islamic building. His efforts are thus aimed at Allah’s approval and Paradise. Verily, the intention is of decisive importance.
A Way Out
To escape this hard test and its inevitable outcome is far from possible, so long as one is a sane adult. We need, however, to turn away from our vain desires and endless aspirations. We should not even attempt to flee from this test. If passed successfully, this test will be a cause for bliss and happiness never seen before. We should instead flee to the One Who has put us to this difficult test: Allah. He alone can enable us to pass it successfully.
(So flee to Allah! Surely I am an evident, constant warner from Him to you.) (Adh-Dhariyat 51:50)
Dear brothers and sisters, the matter is indeed grave. It is no game. It is either Paradise or Hell. The Day of Resurrection could be a day of glad tidings and unspeakable joy or a day of deep regret. Work hard and give this test top priority. To do other than that would be extremely unwise. Implore the All-Merciful Allah to guide you and make you firm on His Straight Path. Hold onto His religion and observe all His commands and prohibitions. Do not take a single step toward something unless you think that it will benefit you in the hereafter; otherwise, throw it far away. Be merciful to people so that the All-Merciful will be merciful to you, forgive your sins and admit you to His Paradise where you will live a life of bliss, tranquility, security and serenity, a life free from any fear or sadness.
(O My servants! No fear shall be on you that Day nor shall you grieve.) (Az-Zukhruf 43: 68)
"Whoever guides [another] to a good deed will get a reward similar to the one who performs it." Prophet Mohammad (PBUH)[Sahih Muslim]
Ibn 'Abbas says about the Aayah, "Remember Allaah during the well known days," that it refers to the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah. [This is related by al-Bukhari]
Allaah swears an oath by them, and swearing an oath by something is indicative of its importance and great benefit. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): "By the dawn; by the 10 nights" [al-Fajr 89:1-2]. Ibn Abbaas, Ibn al-Zubayr, Mujaahid and others of the earlier and later generations said that this refers to the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah. Ibn Katheer said: "This is the correct opinion." [Tafseer Ibn Katheer, 8/413]
Praise be to Allaah Who has created Time and has made some times better than others, some months and days and nights better than others, when rewards are multiplied many times, as a mercy towards His slaves. This encourages them to do more righteous deeds and makes them more eager to worship Him, so that the Muslim renews his efforts to gain a greater share of reward, prepare himself for death and supply himself in readiness for the Day of Judgement.
This season of worship brings many benefits, such as the opportunity to correct ones faults and make up for any shortcomings or anything that one might have missed. Every one of these special occasions involves some kind of worship through which the slaves may draw closer to Allaah, and some kind of blessing though which Allaah bestows His favour and mercy upon whomsoever He will. The happy person is the one who makes the most of these special months, days and hours and draws nearer to his Lord during these times through acts of worship; he will most likely be touched by the blessing of Allaah and will feel the joy of knowing that he is safe from the flames of Hell. [Ibn Rajab, al-Lataaif, p.8]
Ibn 'Abbas reports that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "No good deeds done on other days are superior to those done on these days [meaning the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah]." The companions asked, "O Messenger of Allaah, not even jihad in the way of Allaah?" He said, "Not even jihad, except for the man who puts his life and wealth in danger [for Allaah's sake] and returns with neither of them." [This is related by the group except Muslim and an-Nasa'i]
Ahmad and at-Tabarani record from Ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "There is no day more honorable in Allaah's sight and no acts more beloved therein to Allaah than those in these ten days. So say tahlil (There is no deity worthy of worship but Allaah : Laa ilaaha illallaah), takbir (Allaah is the greatest : Allaahu Akbar) and tahmid (All praise is due to Allaah : alhumdulillaah) a lot [on those days]." [Reported by Ahmad, 7/224; Ahmad Shaakir stated it is saheeh]
Abu Hurairah relates that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "There are no days more loved to Allaah for you to worship Him therein than the ten days of Dhul Hijja. Fasting any day during it is equivalent to fasting one year and to offer salatul tahajjud (late-night prayer) during one of its nights is like performing the late night prayer on the night of power. [i.e., Lailatul Qadr]." [This is related by at-Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, and al-Baihaqi]
Ibn 'Umar narrated that at Mina, the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "Do you know what is the day today?" The people replied, "Allaah and His Messenger know it better." He said, "It is the forbidden (sacred) day. And do you know what town is this?" They replied, "Allaah and His Messenger know it better." He said, "This is the forbidden (sacred) town (Mecca). And do you know which month is this?" The people replied, "Allaah and His Apostle know it better." He said, "This is the forbidden (sacred) month." The Messenger added, "No doubt, Allaah made your blood, your properties, and your honour sacred to one another like the sanctity of this day of yours in this month of yours in this town of yours."
Narrated Ibn 'Umar: On the Day of Nahr (10th of Dhul-Hijja), the Messenger (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) stood in between the Jamrat during his Hajj which he performed (as in the previous Hadith) and said, "This is the greatest Day (i.e. 10th of Dhul-Hijjah)." The Messenger (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) started saying repeatedly, "O Allaah! Be Witness (I have conveyed Your Message)." He then bade the people farewell. The people said, "(This is Hajjat-al-Wada)." [Bukhari 2.798]
Fasting Day of Arafat
Abu Qatadah reported that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "Fasting on the day of 'Arafah is an expiation for two years, the year preceding it and the year following it. Fasting the day of 'Ashurah is an expiation for the year preceding it." [This is related by "the group," except for al-Bukhari and at-Tirmidhi]
Hafsah reported, "There are five things that the Messenger (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) never abandoned: fasting the day of 'Ashurah, fasting the [first] 10 [days of Dhul-Hijjah], fasting 3 days of every month and praying two rak'ah before the dawn prayer." [This is related by Ahmad and an-Nasa'i]
'Uqbah ibn 'Amr reported that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "The day of 'Arafah, the day of sacrifice, and the days of tashreeq are 'ids for us--the people of Islam--and they are days of eating and drinking." [This is related by "the five," except for Ibn Majah. At-Tirmidhi grades it sahih]
Abu Hurairah stated, "The Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) forbade fasting on the day of 'Arafah for one who is actually at 'Arafah." [This is related by Ahmad, Abu Dawud, an-Nasa'i, and Ibn Majah]
At-Tirmidhi comments: "The scholars prefer that the day of 'Arafah be fasted unless one is actually at 'Arafah."
Takbeer
It is Sunnah to say Takbeer ("Allaahu akbar"), Tahmeed ("Al-hamdu Lillaah"), Tahleel ("La ilaha ill-Allaah") and Tasbeeh ("Subhaan Allaah") during the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, and to say it loudly in the mosque, the home, the street and every place where it is permitted to remember Allaah and mention His name out loud, as an act of worship and as a proclamation of the greatness of Allaah, may He be exalted. Men should recite these phrases out loud, and women should recite them quietly.
Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
"That they might witness things that are of benefit to them (i.e., reward of Hajj in the Hereafter, and also some worldly gain from trade, etc.), and mention the name of Allaah on appointed days, over the beast of cattle that He has provided for them (for sacrifice)..." [al-Hajj 22:28]
The majority of scholars agree that the "appointed days" are the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, because of the words of Ibn Abbas (may Allaah be pleased with him and his father), "The appointed days are the first ten days (of Dhul-Hijjah)."
The Takbeer may include the words "Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, la ilaaha ill-Allaah; wa Allaahu akbar wa Lillaahil- hamd (Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, there is no deity worthy of worship but Allaah; Allaah is Most Great and to Allaah be praise)," as well as other phrases.
Takbeer at this time is an aspect of the Sunnah that has been forgotten, especially during the early part of this period, so much so that one hardly ever hears Takbeer, except from a few people. This Takbeer should be pronounced loudly, in order to revive the Sunnah and as a reminder to the negligent. There is sound evidence that Ibn Umar and Abu Hurairah (may Allaah be pleased with them) used to go out in the marketplace during the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, reciting Takbeer, and the people would recite Takbeer when they heard them. The idea behind reminding the people to recite Takbeer is that each one should recite it individually, not in unison, as there is no basis in Sharee'ah for doing this.
Muslim narrated in his Saheeh from Abu Hurayrah and Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with them both), that they heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon them) say from his minbar: “People should definitely stop neglecting Jumu’ah, or else Allaah will most certainly seal their hearts and they will most certainly be among the ghaafileen.”
Musab ibn Umair (Arabic: مصعب بن عمير) was a sahabi (companion) of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) . He was from the branch Banū Abd al-Dār of the tribe of Quraish. He died in the Battle of Uhud. He is said to be the first envoy of Islam
It is narrated that Ibn `Abbas (may God be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of God, Muhammad, (may God bless and grant him peace) said, On the night in which I was taken by a night Journey, a pleasant fragrance came my way, and so I said, O Gabriel! What is this pleasant fragrance? He said, This is the fragrance of the hairdresser of Pharaohs daughter, and [of the hairdresser]s children.
This is her story as narrated in a lecture by Bilal Assad based on a hadith found in Ahmad and Ibn Majah:
There was a women called Mashit of Firoun (Pharaoh), she was the hairdresser of Firouns daughterthe same Pharaoh who said, I do not know any god but me. Mashit of Firoun had embraced Islam in secret and when she was combing the hair of the pharaohs daughter, the comb fell to the ground and Mashit automatically and subconsciously picked up the comb and said, Bismillah, (in the name of God). This Mashit of Firoun also had five children and one of them was still being breast fed. After Mashit said Bismillah, the daughter of Firoun said, Allah Abi, are you saying God my father?
And Mashit said, No! God, the God of your father and yourself and me. The pharaohs daughter became angry and went to her father and said to him: Father, this woman worships another god besides you.
He said: What? She knows another god besides me, who is that? Call her to me. They called her to him, and she came and stood, a woman, a woman in front of this great Pharaoh. And he said to her, Who is your God?
She said, God is my lord.
He said, Who is God?
God is my God and yours.
What? Bring the chains!
They brought the chains, they begun to punish her and whip her. They asked her Who is your lord, and she would say God is my lord and yours. And so Pharaoh ordered for them to bring a large container and he spilt boiling oil into this container, a large container like a swimming pool, and then he said, Bring me all her children! They brought them one by one and he said Worship me, I am your lord. She said, never! So he brought her first son and threw him into the oil. In front of her eyes his meat and flesh fell of his body and his bone disintegrated. Then they brought her next son and she was firm, Allahu Akbar! They burnt him; she could not stop them, and then her third and her fourth and finally her fifth, he was on her arm and she was about to pull back, she was about to pull back in front of the eyes of all the people and then all of a sudden God (Glory and High is He) from above seven skies made her child speak while he was in the cradle. He said: Be patient my mother, you are in the truth, God has promised you with a great heaven, keep going mother. And then they threw her son into the boiling oil. Mashit knew that she was going to die, and then she began to cry and Pharaoh said, Why are you crying? Stop! And she said, I was crying because I wanted to ask you to do something for me, and I dont know if youre going to do it. He said, Ask me for whatever you like. She said, Once you throw me into the oil, then I want you to gather whatever is remaining of our bodies and I want you to bury us together in the same grave, because I want to be resurrected with my children and I want to go to Jannah (Paradise) with my children.
Ibn Katheer collected the following in his tafseer:
Ali bin Abi Talhah also stated that Ibn `Abbas commented on Allah's statement,[وَمَن لَّمْ يَحْكُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ فَأُوْلَـئِكَ هُمُ الْكَـفِرُونَ](And whosoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed, such are the disbelievers,) "Whoever rejects what Allah has revealed, will have committed Kufr, and whoever accepts what Allah has revealed, but did not rule by it, is a Zalim (unjust) and a Fasiq (rebellious) and a sinner.'' Ibn Jarir recorded this statement.
Waki` said that Sa`id Al-Makki said that Tawus said that,[وَمَن لَّمْ يَحْكُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ فَأُوْلَـئِكَ هُمُ الْكَـفِرُونَ](And whosoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed, such are the disbelievers,) "This is not the Kufr that annuls one's religion.''
`Abdur-Razzaq said, "Ma`mar narrated to us that Tawus said that Ibn `Abbas was asked about Allah's statement,[وَمَن لَّمْ يَحْكُم]And whosoever does not judge...) He said, `It is an act of Kufr.' Ibn Tawus added, `It is not like those who disbelieve in Allah, His angels, His Books and His Messengers.' Ath-Thawri narrated that Ibn Jurayj said that `Ata' said, `There is Kufr and Kufr less than Kufr, Zulm and Zulm less than Zulm, Fisq and Fisq less than Fisq.'''
Ibn `Abbas was asked about Allah's statement,[وَمَن لَّمْ يَحْكُم](And whosoever does not judge...) He said, `It is an act of Kufr.' Ibn Tawus added, `It is not like those who disbelieve in Allah, His angels, His Books and His Messengers.' Ath-Thawri narrated that Ibn Jurayj said that `Ata' said, `There is Kufr and Kufr less than Kufr, Zulm and Zulm less than Zulm, Fisq and Fisq less than Fisq.'''
(And whosoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed, such are the disbelievers.) Al-Bara' bin `Azib, Hudhayfah bin Al-Yaman, Ibn `Abbas, Abu Mijlaz, Abu Raja' Al-`Utaridi, `Ikrimah, `Ubaydullah bin `Abdullah, Al-Hasan Al-Basri and others said that this Ayah was revealed about the People of the Book. Al-Hasan Al-Basri added that this Ayah also applies to us.
`Abdur-Razzaq said that Ath-Thawri said that Mansur said that Ibrahim said that these Ayat, "Were revealed about the Children of Israel, and Allah accepted them for this Ummah.'' Ibn Jarir recorded this statement.
Ibn Taymiyyah said: And it is known by necessity in the Deen of the Muslims and by the agreement of all the Muslims that whoever CONSIDERS IT PERMISSIBLE TO FOLLOW a Sharee'ah other than the Sharee'ah of Muhammad then he is a Kaafir and it is like the Kufr of the one who believes in some of the Book and disbelieves in some of the Book." -"Al-Fataawa", Vol. 28/ 524
The word is "Sawagha" in Arabic which means "consider it permissible"..the takfeeris mistranslate this word.
Regarding who doesnt rule by what Allaah reveals..Ibn uthaymeen said that Ibn abbas radi Allaahu anhum said that the intent is the kufr which does not expel from the religion as occurs in the saying of the messenger sallah Allahau alayhi wassalam reviling muslim is sin (fusooq) and fighting him is kufr (disbelief)
Imaam At-Tahaawi (rahimahullaah) also said: And we do not pronounce takfeer upon anyone from the people of Qibla by these sins, as long as they do not make them halaal, and we do not say that one who sins his imaan is not harmed. (This is also a refutation of the Murjia whom we are accused of being)
Imaam Ash-Showkaani (rahimahullaah) said:
"..Whoever prostrates to other than Allaah out of ignorance, he does not become a disbeliever." [Naylul Awtaar volume 6/210]
Imam At-Tahawi raheemahulah stated regarding this ayah:
This Ayah signifies that ruling by laws other than those revealed by Allah constitutes infidelity. This type of infidelity is either major which entails apostasy, or minor which does not constitute apostasy depending on the ruler's attitude If he believes that the laws of Allaah are not binding, and that he has a choice, or he took them lightly, or believed that man-made laws are better than the Divine laws because the former are not suitable for this time and age or if he wants to satisfy the infidels and hypocrites by so doing, then he commits major infidelity. But if he believes that the laws of Allaah are binding and knows the respective laws are relevant to the case he is handling and yet he opted to rule by otherwise, recognizing that his deed is wrong, and would be subject to punishment, then such a ruler is disobedient who has committed minor Kufr or disbelief. But if he was ignorant of the respective Divine law and tried his best and utmost seeking it, but missed it, he would have committed an error, but he would be rewarded for exerting the effort to reach the proper judgment and, whose error would be forgiven [At-Tahawiyah p.363-364]
Question: There are some people who are confused with regards to obeying the authorities. Some say that giving the pledge of allegiance is only to be done to the main leader of all the Muslims in the world. What do you say about this?
Answer by Shaykh Muḥammad Ibn Ṣýliḥ al-ýUthaymýn:
No doubt, this is incorrect. If such a person were to die, he would die in a state of Jýhiliyyah because he would die while not having allegiance to anyone.[2] The general rule in Islamic legislation is that Allýh says:
That is the Book. There is no doubt in it, and it is guidance for the Muttaqýn (those who are constantly fearful of Allaah). [Sýrah al-Baqarah, 2:2]
If no supreme leader over all Muslims in the world exists, then whoever happens to be the leader in oneýs region ý he is the leader. Otherwise, if we were to accept this erroneous opinion, then that would mean there is no legitimate Muslim leader of anyone today, and everyone that dies do so in a state of Jýhiliyyah (according to the ḥadýth) Who says this?
The Islamic nation during the time of the companions was widely spread out. You know that ýAbd Allýh Ibn al-Zubayr was in Mecca, (the leaders of) Baný ýUmayyah were in al- Shým (Syria), some people were in Yemen, and others in Egypt. The Muslims have always held the belief that the pledge of obedience is binding upon them to whoever is in authority over the land in which they reside. They pledge to obey him, calling him the
ýLeader of the Believersý. No one denies that. Rejecting this is a form of inciting dissension and mutiny among the Muslims from the point of one assuming that thereýs no obedience to anyone binding upon him and because it is contradictory to the unanimous opinions of the Muslims since the earliest times.
The messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: ýListen and obey even if an Abyssinian slave is put in authority over you.
"Whoever rejects Taghout and believes in Allah will have grasped the most trustworthy handhold that will never break." [Quran 2:256]
Al-Taghout has been defined by Ibn Qayim as anything where the servant exceeds his limit of servitude.
When the complete conviction of Tawheed (i.e. to submit, to worship, to obey, to follow sincerely for Allah (SWT) ) becomes a reality in each aspect of an individuals life, man is released from all other bonds and attachments. Thus the only allegiance is to Allah (SWT) and there is complete disassociation from Kufr. This allegiance is to Allah, His deen, His books, His messengers and to the path of His good servants and purification from any Taghout
Ishaq at-Tujibi said, "Whenever the Companions of the Prophet heard his name after he died, they were humble, their skins trembled and they wept. It was the same with many of the Followers. Some of them act like that out of love and yearning for him, others out of respect and esteem."

Bismillahir Rahmani Rahiim Alhamdulilahi Rabbil Alamiin wasalatu wasalamu ala ashrafil mursalin nebiyuna wa habibuna Muhamad salalahu aleyhi wa ala ahlihi wa ashabihi wabarik wasalim tasaliman kathira
Allah, the Exalted, says:
"Then when the (Jumu`ah) Salat (prayer) is ended, you may disperse through the land, and seek the Bounty of Allah (by working).'' (62:10)
Zubair bin `Awwam (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "It is far better for you to take your rope, go to the mountain, (cut some firewood) carry it on your back, and sell it and thereby save your face than begging from people whether they give you or refuse.''
[Al-Bukhari].
Commentary: As compared to beggary, this Hadith puts emphasis on hard work. However, people may look down upon manual labour or hard work, yet it is certainly far better than seeking charity servilely, because doing a job like this will certainly save a man's self-respect, whereas begging puts him in an awkward position. To put it in this way, Islam stands for a man's deliverance from indignity and teaches him to keep his sense of dignity.
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "It is better for anyone of you to carry a bundle of wood on his back and sell it than to beg of someone whether he gives him or refuses.''

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (PBUH) said, "(Prophet) Dawud (PBUH) ate only out of that which he earned through his manual work.''

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (PBUH) said, "No food is better to man than that which he earns through his manual work. Dawud (PBUH), the Prophet of Allah, ate only out of his earnings from his manual work.''

Commentary: Labour and manual work make the living of a man good, laudable and excellent. The Prophets also earned their living with their own work. Upon such earnings we get the Blessing of Allah. Some people wrongly think that earning a living is at variance with trust in Allah. Rather the right form of trust requires us to adopt ways and means according to our capacity and then to leave the matter to Allah. Also the Prophetic argument tells us that any manual skill or occupation, and the one who depends on it for his living should not be considered inferior. Instead, such people deserve respectable and worthy place in society because they emulate the example of the Prophets. In our society, a highbrow attitude towards them is unfortunate and deserves our deprecation. We have chosen to put some trades in a very low estimate and so is our view of those who are attached with them. In fact, no trade is inferior, nor is the person who adopts it.

You never complained when you knew we would have nothing. You were contempt on having what little you needed.
Where others would have left or moaned you never once let out a sigh. You understood what was written was what we would eat.
I never once complained about what was put in front of me as I knew it was your hands that brought it to me.
When I had nothing I had you. We smiled as we saw the destruction around us knowing that these people were not true.
You never felt sympathy towards the enemy. You put your trust in your Rubb and in turn you followed me. Never did I have to wonder about you as my secrets my honour and my Deen were safe with you.
When the enemy barked you never flinched. You were strong and in turn made me strong.
We both know what hardships you faced just being with me but not a word did you speak.
Like a vanguard for this Ummah you concealed yourself. Where others would rush to please their desires you were the essences of Taqwa.
Life was easy with you and it came so naturally. You were the extension of me and I would never need to finish my words as who knew me better then you....
It's the little things that make the person and you would have easily have kept me going for a lifetime.
I loved your jealousy. I loved to tease you with the thought of others just so I could know how dear I was to you. The way you would look at me with fire in your eyes showed me that I was the only one for you. You stole my heart and hide it away. You know your place it's by my side. What chance did shaytan have when you would ensure that fajr was the easiest of the salahs. I loved that you would forsake me in an instant to fast a voluntary fast. I loved that the Haq was dearer to you then my life and those of our jewels
Watching you makes me laugh as I wonder if my heart will ever want another as I watch you feed my child, as you lift her out of the bath, as you wipe her little nose and the face she pulls. You will never find a diamond in the hands of the poor in the same way our diamond deserves to be carried in your hands. We could have it all my love but who sells Paradise for an hour of passing pleasure? Not us.
I chose you Umm Muthana as I know our fruits are safe with you. Never will I have to worry about if they pray or offer supplication. Never would I have to worry about where the loyalties of my babies are. They will love what we love they will love Allah Most Glorified Most High, they will Love the Prophets and the best of Companions, They will love those who they have never met but will long to meet. They will love those better then us. They will live to honour one statement. Others will fall under the weight of La illiha illiha but not them. Their hearts will beat it, their words testify to it and their hands carry it.
Dont think I left you. Dont think that in this world anything is dearer to me then the minute that I walk home knowing what waits for me behind closed doors. I went to find a better place for us. I went to fulfil the best of deals. I saw it written that if you give your life then eternity will be ours. I saw it written somewhere that this was all a test and I have no doubt that one who promises us and whose word is truth must love me very much as he gave me you and you were the hardest thing to give up. They say the mind cannot comprehend what awaits us. They say that sadness will forgotten, they say that the eye has yet to see and the ear has yet to hear the beauties that await us in our new home. I told you once that only 2 things will have me. You and death. My life was with you but now I must marry again. I must marry what was promised to me the moment I was born. After death will come reckoning and if I stand with the best of creation I will with the permission of Allah Lord of the Heavens and the Earth I will beg for you. It is quite necessary to arrange ones thoughts before writing an article, just the way the papers of a book are arranged before it is compiled, otherwise you risk putting the reader in a state of utter confusion. However, so many things have happened and are happening in such a chaotic manner, that the wind has blown away the papers, the thoughts are scattered hither and thither, and I am forced to remain stranded, like a lost sheep away from the herd, waiting for a wolf to attack, from a place I least expect.
We were a nice amount of people when we started. There was such energy and enthusiasm and work. Bringing victory to the Deen was all we talked about, that was all what plagued us. We were storming every where and every thing, and our teacher worried that we would get our selves in trouble, and we would laugh about it. Nothing or no one could become an obstacle enough to stop our work...huh... at least, so we had thought.
Yet something, that we did not expect crept slowly, seeping deep and broke through. At first, we separated... forced to, and then the energies, slowly started to fade, we were gradually breaking down, without even realizing it, until one key figure raised the bag to leave... again, forced to. I finally realized that we were no longer the same bunch we were, we had changed, time had changed us, and strange how it did.
I remember the quote from a speech of Sheikh Abdullah Azzam May Allah have mercy on him, that days pass upon us, and our burdens increase, our children increase and wealth increases and we keep consoling ourselves that after the relief of one of these we will leave... and then death dawns, and we leave with the hope...
How true to the very alphabet!!!
I miss the time and the nights spent sleepless for a noble cause, to raise the word of Allah high, and what cause can be greater. I miss it when mom scolded and dad fired... we were lousy to the world, dedicated to something greater, something that was worthless in the balance of the world, but meant everything to us
Jihad in the way of Allah, was a dream that I was sure will come true for me. Now as I sit typing this, I am not so sure as I used to be. "Allah will not waste us" I used to say with such confidence that others used to smile at its reality, yet now my conviction is not that great. I can not say it. We have wasted ourselves, how then can I guarantee that Allah will not waste me, worthless as I have become to myself, what worth can I expect Allah to have of me.
The passion is slowly being buried in the depths of time, and I stand and watch as I stood and watched for years. They keep slamming one insult after the other in our faces, they keep lashing our backs with one chain after the other and we stand and watch, promising them in words, 'I will avenge'. And they laugh. We cry. And they laugh again.
I know what they laugh at. They laugh at the youth who have energy but have families stopping them,. They laugh at fathers willing to sacrifice who have wives and children stopping them. They laugh at women of war who have husbands stopping them. They laugh at all of us cancelling each other out and leaving no one to stop them from laughing at our wounds. So they laugh and we cry as our fathers and mothers did and those before them did.
I do not want to cry, I want to laugh, why cant we all laugh... why cant we be on the battlefields laughing at their slaughtered bodies, declaring that Allah is the greatest...
We watch the videos of the Mujahideen, as though they are from some other planet, our hearts reaching out, our bodies numb, yes... this is a place and a people that truly exist, and we are the scum of the ocean...
The morning she left, I was crying again. We made our firm handshake. Perhaps gradually our numbers would reduce to nothing, and the passion would die. Time again, would wear us out, and I would hate myself, like earlier, I hated every other person who was dormant towards his Ummah. However, I know the caravan will move forward
It will move regardless of me, or any other person reluctant and heavy...
O Allah hasten us to the caravan, hasten us
