Defending the rights of a Hijab-wearing Muslimah: What would you do?
An unsettling, yet moving report investigating Islamophobic attitudes in America. John Quinones from ABC Primetime hosts the opening episode of the series "What would you do?" in which a couple of Actors set up a scenario where a Muslim woman wearing Hijab is blatantly attacked for her adherence to Islam with extreme prejudice by a so-called "proud American" Clerk who refuses to serve her and tramples over her rights and dignity by stereotyping her as a Terrorist to gauge the reaction of public bystanders.
The experiment was devised by Nihayah Javed from Chicago who describes the constant levels of Islamophobic attack upon her personally as a "daily battle." John Quinones comments "Never have we seen reactions so polarized. From a thumbs up for prejudice, to an emphatic thumbs down. Two different Americas, both convinced they're Patriotic. At the end of the day, 13 people stood up for the Muslim woman while 6 sided with the Clerk. But the majority of the bystanders; 22, did or said absolutely nothing! That's what's most frightening to Muslims like Nihayah, who was watching our experiment. In fact, so frightening that they often avoid going out by themselves."
this as a tribute and in support of all of my Muslim Sisters, whether in Hijab or Niqab out there striving hard to please their Lord in an increasingly Islamophobic world. Don't worry, you are truly brave and Allah will make things easy for you, and if you remain patient, what reward is there for you except Paradise? I also thank those non-Muslims who defend the rights of their fellow Muslims with dignity and I hope that Allah opens your heart to the Truth.
