A guide to a marvelous and complex Successful Marriage relationship

The young and excited bride-and-groom-to-be, ecstatic about the upcoming wedding and marriage, and the joy that it will bring. Three to six months later, reality sets in, and both spouses realize that marriage is no easy task, but one that takes a great deal of effort and patience.
Card18

The following are tips for both wives and husbands, to help make the task a little less daunting, and to increase the many rewards that are possible in such a marvelous and complex relationship.

Enter the Marriage with the Right Intention and Renew this Often
Both spouses should enter the marriage with the pure intention of pleasing Allah, (سبحانه وتعالى), in order to receive His grace and blessings. The marriage itself, then, becomes an act of worship, and one for which both spouses will be rewarded. Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) will be pleased with them, and this will be the most critical element in ensuring peace, stability and happiness throughout the marital life. Realize that when an act of worship is continued over a long period of time, it becomes necessary to renew one’s intention often to remain on the correct path and to obtain the most benefit.

Remember that Your Spouse is also Your Brother or Sister in Islam
Too often Muslims treat other people outside the home with kindness and sincerity, but then behave in a very different manner when it comes to their own spouses. Muslims should always remember that one’s spouse is also another brother or sister in Islam and that the rights and duties that apply to the general brotherhood (sisterhood) of Islam, should also form the basis of the marital relationship. Obviously, a spouse has rights beyond these, but there should be a clear understanding of the rights of brotherhood (sisterhood) and adherence to these principles.

Card17

The Messenger of Allah (صلي الله عليه وسلم) said: None of you are true believers until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself. [Bukhari, 2/12] Subhanallah, how many marriages could this hadith alone save? It counters every kind of negative treatment and encourages every kind of good treatment!

Do Not Hold Unrealistic Expectations
Before marriage, people often have unrealistic ideas about their spouse-to-be, and expect perfection in all aspects. This rarely, if ever, plays out in reality, and can lead to unnecessary problems and concerns. We should recall that Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) created humans as imperfect beings, which means that many mistakes will be made throughout a lifetime. By turning the table and expecting imperfection, we will be pleasantly surprised and pleased when we discover our spouse is much more than we ever hoped for. This, in turn, leads to contentment within the marriage.

Focus on the Best in Your Spouse
Since no one is endowed with all of the best qualities, emphasis should be placed on the positive qualities that a spouse possesses. Express encouragement, praise, and gratitude on a regular basis, to strengthen these qualities and to encourage developing others. Make an attempt to overlook or ignore negative characteristics, as the Prophet (صلي الله عليه وسلم) said, “A believing man should not have any malice against a believing woman. He may dislike one characteristic in her, but may find another in her which is pleasing.” [Muslim, 8/3469]

Card15

Be Your Mate’s Best Friend
Try to think of what a best friend means and be one to your spouse. This may mean sharing interests, experiences, dreams, failures and upsets. It may involve understanding a spouse’s likes and dislikes and attempting to please him or her in any way possible. A best friend is also usually someone that can be confided to trusted, and relied upon. A spouse should be the kind of friend that one would want to keep throughout life.

Spend Quality Time Together
It is not enough to share meals, chores and small talk together. Spouses should also find time to focus on strengthening the relationship. Often couples get busy with their own separate tasks and forget about working on one of the most important elements in life. Quality time may be anything from having a quiet, profound conversation to going for a nice long nature walk, to sharing a special hobby or project. Both spouses should enjoy the particular option they choose and distractions should be kept to a minimum.

The Prophet (صلي الله عليه وسلم) used to race with his wife, ‘Aisha (رضي الله عنها). Sometimes she won, and sometimes he won. Remember, he was in his fifties at the time!–how many of us think we are to “mature” to do something enjoyable that can also, with a proper intention, count as an act of worship and ring in piles of good deeds?

Express Feelings Often
This seems like a very “Western” concept and one that some people may struggle with, but it is important to be open and honest about one’s feelings, both positive and negative. The lines of communication should always be open and any concerns should be brought to the attention of the other spouse as soon as they arise. The rationale of this is that, what begins as a simple concern, may grow into a major problem if it is not addressed quickly and properly. The “silent treatment” never fixes anything in the long-term.

Admit to Mistakes and ask for Forgiveness
Just as we ask Allah to forgive us when we make mistakes, we should also ask our spouses to forgive us when we make mistakes. The stronger person is the one who can admit when he or she is wrong, request pardon from the other, and work hard to improve his/her aspects that are in need of change. When a person is unwilling to do this, there will be little growth and development in the marriage.

Never Bring Up Past Mistakes
It can be very hurting for another person to be reminded of past mistakes. In Islam, it is generally not recommended to dwell on the past. One may remember errors that were made so that they are not repeated, but this should not be done excessively. Certainly, as humans, we are not in the position to judge another person. Advice may be given, but in the proper manner and with the best of intentions and etiquettes.

Surprise Each Other at Times
This may entail bringing home a small gift or flowers, preparing a special meal, dressing up and beautifying oneself (this is not only for women), or sending a secret note in a lunch-box. A little imagination goes a long way here. The idea is to spice up the marriage and avoid getting into a dull routine that may negatively impact the marriage.

Cultivate a Sense of Humour
Joke with your spouse. This particular aspect goes a long way in preventing arguments and brightening the atmosphere of the home. Life is a constant stream of challenges and tests, and to approach it in a light-hearted manner helps make the journey smoother and more enjoyable. You may also find that your spouse enjoys this characteristic, and looks forward to spending time with you because of it.

In fact, the Prophet (صلي الله عليه وسلم) himself joked with his wives, as well as with companions (though without lying), and tolerated some companions who were known for being light-hearted and prankish.

Quick Tips for Discussions and Disagreements

Begin with the intention to resolve the issue. If both spouses have this intention and plan to consult together, it is more likely that there will be a successful resolution.

Remember that it takes two to quarrel. If only one person chooses not to argue, there will be no argument. Generally, the one who is wrong does most of the talking.

Both spouses should not be angry at the same time. If one of the spouses becomes upset, it is best if the other tries to remain calm and collected.

Never yell at each other unless the house is on fire. Of course, house fires do not occur very frequently; yelling should occur at about the same rate.

Never go to sleep with an argument unsettled. This is one of the worst things that can happen in a marriage and should be avoided as much as possible. This allows hurt feelings and thoughts to linger and generally exacerbates the problem.

If one spouse needs to win, let it be your mate. Do not focus on winning yourself; this is the main reason that discussions tend to become heated.
Remember your house in Paradise!

The Prophet (صلي الله عليه وسلم) said: I guarantee a house in the surroundings [suburbs] of Paradise for a man who avoids quarrelling even if he were in the right, a house in the middle of Paradise for a man who avoids lying even if he were joking, and a house in the upper part of Paradise for a man who made his character good. Those who believed and acquired knowledge

Seeking Knowledge

"So know that there is no god save Allah, ask forgiveness for your sins and for the believing men and the believing women. Allah knows well your moving and your place of rest."

(Qur'an, Muhammad 47:19)

5

This verse shows the importance of knowledge and the virtues that Allah has given to it. It also shows that knowledge comes before deeds, since Allah instructed His Prophet to know that He is One and the only One worthy of worship. After that, He commanded him to ask forgiveness for himself, his family and for his Ummah.

If Muslims truly realise the importance Islam places on knowledge and its virtues, they will definitely be keen to learn and teach others. They would start with themselves and their families; then their neighbours and the community at large. Once Mu'awiyah Ibn Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with her) gave a sermon in which he said, "I heard Allah's Messenger saying, "If Allah wants to do good to a person, he makes him very knowledgeable in the Deen." (Related by Bukhari and Muslim)

This is because knowledge is the basis of all good; it generates actions that are based on the commandments of Allah and the instructions of the Prophet . Hence, every Muslim must instil in his mind a desire to seek knowledge. Allah (Most Exalted is He) instructed His Prophet -- and thus all Muslims -- to ask Allah to increase him in knowledge. He said:

"And say: My Lord increase me in knowledge."

(Qur'an, Ta-Ha 20:114)

Though, initially, all Muslims are equal in the sight of Allah, those who believe, have taqwah (fear of Allah and righteousness), and have been granted knowledge move up to higher ranks. Allah says about those who have taqwah:

"Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is he who has most taqwah."

(Qur'an, Al-Hujurat 49:13)

And He said about those who believed and acquired knowledge.

Fresh and Dried Dates ~Balah (Dates)

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,

All Praises is for Allah, Lord of the universe.Prophet Muhammad was sent as a guide, and mercy for all of mankind, and as such was given wisdom by Allah that benefits for all of mankind .

Allah says :'O Mankind! There has come to you a good advice from your Lord, and a healing for that which is in your breast, a guidance and mercy for the believer's."(10:57).

An-Nasa'i and Ibn Majah narrated in their Sunan that 'Aishah rd, may Allah grant peace and blessing upon her, said that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi waalihi wasalaam , said:

"Eat fresh dates with dried dates, for when Satan sees the son of Adam eating fresh and dried dates he comments,'The son of Adam remained until he started eating the new and the old together."

In another narration, the Prophet sallallahu 'alayhi waahlihi wasallaam, said:

"Eat fresh and dried dates, because Satan gets sad when he sees the son of Adam eating them, so he says : 'The son of Adam has lived until (now) he eats the fresh and the old together."

Some of the Muslim doctors commented, "The Prophet sallallahu 'alayhi waahlihi wasallaam, ordered the Muslims to eat fresh and dried dates together rather than green dates with dried dates. Fresh dates are cold and dry while dried dates are hot and humid, thus neutralizing the effect of each other. On the other hand, green dates and dried dates are both hot, although the dried dates are more hot." Medically , it is better to avoid eating two types of foods that inclined towards either hotness or coolness.

The Hadith indicates that the medical profession is generally correct when it inclines towards neutralizing the effects of medications and foods with other ingredients or foods to preserve good health.

Fresh dates are cold and dry and they benefit the mouth, the gums (gingiva) and the stomach. Yet , dates are not beneficial for the chest and lungs because of their coarseness .Also, the dates are difficult to digest and are not very nutritious. The example of fresh dates is the example of unripe grapes , as both cause flatulence and bloating, especially when one drink water after eating fresh dates. To neutralize these side effects, one should eat them with dried dates, or honey and butter.

(Busr)-Green Dates

In the Sahih it is narrated that when the Prophet sallallahu 'alayhi waalihi wasallam, Abu Bakr and Umar may Allah grant him peace, were guests of Abu Al-Hatham bin At-Taihan , may Allah grant him peace, he brought them a cluster of dates, which is similar to a cluster of grapes.
The Prophet , sallallahu 'alayhi waalihi wasallaam, said:
"Why do you not choose some ripe dates for us?"

Abu Al-Hatham , may Allah grant him peace, replied, "I wanted you to choose whatever you like of its green and ripe dates."

Busr (Green dates) is hot and dry, and its dryness is more than its hotness. Also , the Busr dries out excess moisture, coats the stomach, relaxes the bowels and helps the gums and the mouth. The most beneficial (green dates) is the tender and sweet Busr.Yet , eating excessive amounts of Busr (green dates) regularly causes obstructions or clogs intestines.

Tamr (Dried Dates)

In the Sahih it is narrated that the Prophet Muhammad ,sallallahu 'alayhi waahlihi wassalaam, said:

"Whoever ate seven dates in the morning from the area of 'Aaliyah will not be harmed by poison or magic the rest of that day."

He also said:

"The people of a house where there are no dates are hungry."

Also, the Prophet ,sallallahu 'alayhi waahlihi wasalaam, ate dried dates with butter , with bread and alone.

Tamr is hot in the second degree and either wet or dry in the secong degree.

Dried dates strengthen the liver, relax the bowels, increase semen production, especially when taken with pine, and relieve soar throat. As for those who are not used to eating dried dates, such as the residents of cold areas, dried dates cause them clogs, harm the teeth and cause headaches, unless they are eaten with almonds and poppy.

Dried dates are among the most nutritious fruits, their essence is hot and wet . Also , when one eats dates in the beginning of the day, they help kills worms.Although dried dates are hot, yet they have strength of an antidote against worms, killing or at least decreasing their numbers , especially when dried dates are taken frequently on an empty stomach.Dried dates are a fruit , a type of food , a cure , a drink and a sweet.

Rutab (Ripe Dates)

Allah said to Mary:

"And shake the trunk of date palm towards you, it will let fall fresh ripe dates upon you.So eat and drink and be glad. And if you see any human being , say: "Verily, I have vowed a fast unto the Most Gracious (Allah ) so I shall not speak to any human being this day." (19:25,26)

Also , in the Sahihain it is narrated that 'Abdullah bin Ja'far , may Allah grant him peace, said:

"I saw the Messenger of Allah , sallallahu 'alayhi waahlihi wasallam, eating cucumbers with ripe dates."

Abu Daud also narrated in his Sunan that Anas , may Allah grant him peace, said:

"The Messenger of Allah, sallallahu 'alayhi waahlihi wasallaam, used to break his fast on some ripe dates, and if he did not have any, on dry dates. Otherwise , if he did not have dry dates, he would have several sips of water."

Ripe dates are just like water, hot and wet, and they are favourable for and strengthen the cold stomach, increase the production of semen and fertility, are suitable for cold temperaments and are very nutritious.

Ripe dates are the best types of fruit for the people of Al-Madinah specially and for all others in general where ripe dates grow. It is also a very beneficial fruit for the body, although ripe dates spoil quickly in the stomach of those who are not used to eating them and thus produce putrid blood. Also, eating excessive amounts of ripe dates cause headaches and black bile and also harms the teeth.
Oxymel (Sakanjabin) helps neutralize the irritants that accompany eating ripe dates.

When the Prophet sallallahu 'alayhi waahlihi wasallam, used to break his fast, he used to first eat ripe or dry dates, or would drink some water. This is a wise decision, because fasting empties the stomach of food. Thus the liver would not find any sufficient energy that it could transfer to the various organs. Sweets are the fastest food to reach the liver and are also favored by the liver, especially when one eats ripe dates, in which case the liver accepts it even more favorably, benefits from it and then transfer the benefits to the rest of the organs of the body. If there are no ripe dates available, one should eat dried dates because they are sweet and nutritious. Otherwise , some sips of water would extinguish the heat of the stomach and the Fast. The stomach's appetite would then increase and become ready to accept (and digest ) food.

The Prophet saw, are the only source that we can acquire knowledge as all types of knowledge depends on knowing Allah, His Commands and creation. The Prophet have the best knowledge of the wisdom behind Allah's creation and Commandments. The Messengers are those with the best minds purest ways and deepest knowledge. They are the nearest to the truth among the creation. They are the best of mankind that Allah has chosen, just as the Messenger, Muhammad , sallallahu 'alayhi waahlihi wasalaam, is the best among all the Messengers with and the wisdom and forbearing puts them in a category that does not permit comparison.Imam Ahmad narrated that the Messenger of Allah said:

"You (mandkind) are seventy nations (or distict communities); you (Muslims) are the best and most honored among them to Allah."

This honor that Allah has endowed the Muslims with has appeared in their knowledge, minds, intellects and natural ways. The Muslims are the ones who searched throuh the knowledge of all other nations before them and also their wisdom, progress and their works, then added this knowledge to their own knowledge, forbearing and wisdom that Allah has endowed them with. All success comes from Allah.,May Allah forgive us for our mistakes and make us a true believers, InsyaAllah Ameen, Ameen, Ameen.

Among the Hadith concerning ' Dates...

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

As salaamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barkatuhu

Praise belongs to Allah Who has given existence to every self, and Who has inspired each one towards right actions and wrong actions, and Who has taught what is good for them and what is harmful for them, what causes sickness and what gives health, and Who has created death and granted life. My aim is His glory and His acceptance. He is my support, the most excellent of protectors...There is no power and no strength except from Allah, the Beloved, the Wise.....

Ramadan-mina-seyahi

Among the hadith concerning dates are the following:

The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said , “The best of all your dates is that of al-Burniy, which drives out disease.”

Ali. May Allah be pleased with him , said, “The best dates are the dates called ‘al-Burniy’.

And it has been transmitted by Abu Huraira, “ In the sweetness of al-Burniy dates there is no desease.’

Also, the Prophet , may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, “Your women folk should eat dates, for whomever makes dates their food will produce children with ease.

As for fresh dates , these were the food of Mary, peace be on her, and if there had been any food that was better, then truly she would have eaten it. Allah the Almighty said:

And shake the trunk of the palm tree towards you and fresh ripe dates will drop down on you. (Quran :19:25)

The companions used to leave some dates to soak for the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and he would drink the juice the next day- and on the following day he would again ask for it, and drink from it, and then pour away what was left.

Among the ahadith is the saying that eating dates prevents colic. Ibn Abbas said, “ The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to like the type of date called ‘’Ajwat,”’ and the Jalalu’d-Din Abd’ur –Rahman As-Sayuti says: “Truly the ajwat is an excellent and complete food, and if some butter is added to it then its completeness is perfected- and according to the hadith the “Ajwat date is one of the fruits of the Garden.”

All of the above ahadith are related by Abu Nu’aim in his Kitab at-Tibb.

From Sai’d ibn Abi Waqas comes the well –known hadith , “Whoever has seven ‘Ajwat dates for breakfast will not suffer any harm from oppression or sorcery for the whole day.” This has been recorded by al-Bukhari, who considers it to be a sound hadith.

Among the other sound ahadith is this one: “Whoever eats seven dates between dawn and dusk will have no harm come to him between dawn and dusk.” Explanation: By dawn it meant eating the early morning meal each day, and that the “Ajwat is a type of Madina date which is larger than the al-Sihani date, dark in colour, and planted by the Prophet himself, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. It is clear that it has benefited from the Baraka of having been planted by the Prophet. A connection can be seen with the practice of placing twopalm branches on the tombs of matyrs and within their graves.Putting these palms there gives them Baraka and lessens their pains.

At-Tirmidhi has related a similar hadith. He says that the ‘Ajwat is from the Garden, and that there is an antidote against poisons in it. Also ‘Ayesha has transmitted this saying of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace: “The ‘Ajwat date is an excellent remedy.” Muslim transmitted this hadith.

It is accordance with the sunnah for a fasting man to break his fast with dates. The Prophets, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, “Whoever can find dates should break his fast with them-and whoever cannot find dates should break his fast with water, for truly it is pure.” An Nasa’i transmitted this hadith . The Prophet also said , “ As for a house that has no dates , truly those who live in it will go hungry.”

The Prophet, may Allah bless him and granthim peace, said that dried dates and dried grapes should not be soaked in water together. He also forbade soaking fresh dates and grapes together.

The ill-effects of dates can be neutralized by eating almonds and poppies.

A woman can increase her reward in Ramadhaan

Women’s worship during Ramadhaan

A Muslim woman should utilize the seasons which Allaah has endowed with great benefit and made a source for accumulating rewards. A woman can increase her reward in Ramadhaan by strengthening various aspects of worship and obedience to Allaah, by being keen in performing virtuous deeds and refraining from anything that could affect the rewards of her fasting adversely.

Sincerity during Ramadhaan:

One of the aspects of servitude to Allaah, which a woman practices during the month of Ramadhaan is sincerity. Abu Hurayrah, may Allaah be pleased with him, reported: “The Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam, said: “Allaah the Exalted and Majestic said: `Every act of the son of Aadam is for him, except fasting which is (exclusively and sincerely) for Me, and I will reward him for it … (The person observing fast) has abstained from food and drink and sexual pleasures for My sake”[Al-Bukhaari and Muslim]. Therefore, a woman should refrain from all that invalidates her fast, and should guard this pledge that is between her and her Lord from dawn to sunset. Sincerity during this month trains her to be sincere afterwards in other acts of worship.

Rulings of Ramadhaan:

One of the matters, which a woman must endeavor to learn, is the jurisprudence rulings pertaining to the month of Ramadhaan, in order for her fasting to be perfect. There are many rulings related to this month that concern women, like the rulings regarding menstruation, purity, postpartum bleeding in connection to fasting -- if the bleeding stops after twenty days she must perform a ritual bath (i.e. Ghusl) and start fasting, but she must intend fasting the obligatory fast, as the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam informed us that without having an intention to fast prior to the break of dawn, her fast is not valid.

Adhering to the command of Allaah and His Messenger, may Allaah exalt his mention:

Adhering to the commands of Allaah and His Messenger, sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam, during this blessed month is another aspect of servitude, which a woman practices. For example, a woman is commanded to break her fast as soon as she goes into her menses, yet she is not deprived from the reward because she broke the fast in adherence to the command of Allaah, and she is rewarded for this adherence.

Some women become grieved when they get their menses whilst fasting, and start saying things like: ‘Why do I get menses’, or ‘I wished I never got this’, or ‘I wish I was a man so that I do not get it and thus fast the full month’. One must be content with the decree of Allaah, as He is The One who created women as women and men as men. Thus, a woman should be content with her decree, and should not have these feelings, because Allaah does everything with Ultimate Wisdom, the essence of which we can never comprehend.

Ramadana

Bashfulness during Ramadhaan:

Women must learn that when it comes to enlightening and educating themselves in matters of religion, they should not be too shy to ask questions. For example, some young women are too embarrassed to inform their families that they have reached the age of puberty and thus continue to break their fast and do not observe fast. This is a serious mistake and a great crime in Islam, as a woman is obliged to fast whenever she is not in her menses. Another example are women who are too shy, thus when they have their menses they continue to fast lest those around them would find out, which is also prohibited in Islam and by doing so they are disobeying Allaah.

Many sisters ask questions about situations similar to the ones mentioned above, but only after a long time, after they have already committed the mistakes due to being bashful at the wrong time in their lives. Those who did not observe fast after reaching the age of puberty -- for whatever invalid reason -- must make up all the days they missed.

Despite the fact that some scholars have permitted the use of the pills that delay the menses (if they have no harmful side effects), we believe, and Allaah knows best, that not taking them is more rewarding, as it reflects the woman’s contentment with what Allaah Has decreed on her.

Ramadan_is_close_by_mezoomar

Attending the Qiyaam prayers and study circles:

Attending the Qiyaam prayers (i.e. the optional night prayers) in the mosque is a recommended act of worship. ‘Umar, may Allaah be pleased with him, used to designate a prayer area especially for women so they could attend the prayers without intermixing with men. It is a good thing for a woman to attend the prayers with the congregation, but it is more rewarding for her to pray at her house. When the woman goes to the mosque -- whilst fulfilling the conditions permitting her to attend -- she will expose herself to the blessings bestowed upon those who attend the mosque. For example, the mercy of Allaah will descend on them, the angels will surround them and ask forgiveness for them for attending lectures that teach people matters of their religion; saying Aameen after the supplications of the Imaam which makes them deserving of whatever the Imaam supplicated, increasing submissiveness to Allaah that results due to the Imaam’s recitation during the prayer, learning the proper way to pray and correcting any mistakes in recitation. Having said this, it is still more rewarding for a woman to pray in her house whilst reading from the Quran than praying with the congregation.

A woman must be keen to get to know those who attend the congregation with her as some of them could be very pious sisters, who could be a means for steadfastness and remind her at times of heedlessness.

When in the mosque, a woman should be ready to receive knowledge, learn her religion and be open-minded to accept the truth even if it goes against her desire or that which she practices. She must adhere to the proper Hijaab, not wear perfume, not adorn herself, not mix with men outside the mosque or in the parking lot, so as to avoid making the mosque a social club and turning the prayers into a meeting-place to talk and laugh with other sisters, disturbing other people.

Religious exemptions for women during Ramadhaan:

Allaah granted women many exemptions during this month out of His Mercy. One of these exemptions is that a pregnant woman or a breastfeeding woman is permitted to break her fast. Allaah The All Knowing, Knows what feelings a woman has towards her infant and thus permitted her to break her fast to breastfeed him. All she is required to do is to make up the days she missed, and if she is unable to fast then she is only obliged to feed a needy person for every day she missed. The ruling that is applicable to her is just like that for old people who are unable to fast.

Another exemption is that a woman who unwillingly submits to her husband’s will for intercourse during the day in Ramadhaan is excused and not considered a sinner.

Wisdom behind Fasting

The Wisdom Behind Fasting

From the wisdom of fasting is that: It is an act of worship done for Allaah, in which the ‘abd (servant) draws closer to His Lord by abandoning the things that he loves and desires, such as food, drink and sexual intercourse. So because of this, the truthfulness of his Faith and the completeness of his servitude to Allaah become apparent, as well as his love for Allaah and his longing for what Allaah has prepared for him (of good). This is since the one who fasts does not abandon something that is beloved to him except for that which is greater to him than it (which is Allaah). When the believer knows that Allaah’s contentment lies in the fasting - which is abandoning those desires that he naturally loves - he will give his Lord’s contentment precedence over his desires. So he abandons his desires no matter how much he longs and yearns for them, because his delight and the tranquility of his soul lies in his abandoning all that for the sake of Allaah.

F_RAMADAN26m_9d800e2

And from the wisdom behind fasting is that it is a means of attaining Taqwaa, as Allaah says: "O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, in order that you gain Taqwaa." This is since a person who is fasting is commanded to do the obligatory duties and to avoid sinful acts. The Prophet (saws) said: "Whoever does not abandon false speech, acting upon that (false speech) and (acts of) ignorance (i.e. sins), then Allaah has no need of him abandoning his food and drink." [Reported by Al-Bukhaaree] So when a person is fasting, every time he desires to do a sinful act, he will remember that he is fasting and thus withhold himself from that. This is why the Prophet (saws) ordered the person who is fasting, when cursed at and abused, to say: "I am fasting", cautioning him (the reviler) that a person fasting is commanded to refrain from cursing and reviling, and reminding himself that he is fasting and cannot react with cursing.

And from the wisdom behind fasting is that the heart opens to contemplation and remembrance (of Allaah). This is since fulfilling one’s desires leads to heedlessness and perhaps the heart becomes hardened and blinded from the truth. This is why the Prophet (saws) advised us to eat and drink little, where he said: "The Son of Aadam does not fill a vessel worse than his stomach." [Reported by Ahmad, An-Nasaa’ee and Ibn Maajah]

And in Saheeh Muslim, Handhala Al-Usaidee (raa), who was one of the scribes of Allaah’s Messenger, said to the Prophet (saws): "Handhala has become a hypocrite." So Allaah’s Messenger (saws) said: "Why is that?" He said: "O Messenger of Allaah, when we are with you, you remind us of the Hellfire and Paradise, as if we see them with our own eyes. But when we depart from you, we meet our wives and our children and our homes and we forget much (of what we heard from you)." In the last part of the hadeeth, the Prophet (saws) said to him: "But O Handhala, there is a time for this and a time for that (three times)." Abu Sulaymaan Ad-Daraanee said: "Indeed, when the soul hungers and thirsts, the heart softens and becomes pure. And when it is fed, the heart becomes blinded."

Hi_Ramadan_by_alnour

And from the wisdom behind fasting is that the person who has wealth is caused to realize the blessing of wealth that Allaah has bestowed on him, such that Allaah blessed him with food, drink and sexual intercourse. Many people are deprived of these things, so he should praise Allaah for these blessings and thank Him for granting him them. And he should remember his brother who is poor and who probably goes through the day starved and hungry. So he should be generous to him and give him charity so that he can clothe his barrenness and satisfy his hunger.

And from the wisdom behind fasting is that it trains one to curb the soul, and it gives one strength to withhold his soul by its bridle, such that one can govern it and lead it towards that which is good for it and what will make it prosper. This is because the soul commands one to do evil, except for those souls that my Lord has mercy on. So when a person undoes and lets go of his (soul’s) bridle, the soul lands him into many dangers. But when he controls it and curbs it, he is able to lead it to the highest of levels and the greatest of goals.

Ramadan-1024-768

And from the wisdom of fasting is that the soul is broken down and restricted from having pride, to the point that it humbles itself to the truth and softens itself before the creation. This is because eating, drinking and having sexual intercourse with women - all of these things bring about insolence, arrogance, vanity and pride over people and over the truth. The soul preoccupies itself with trying to obtain these things because of its need for them. So when it obtains these things, the soul feels like it has conquered what it desired and so it falls into the happiness and proudness that is condemned. And this is a cause for its destruction. Only those whom Allaah protects are saved from this.

And from the wisdom behind fasting is that the passageways of blood (in the body) become narrow due to hunger and thirst, so therefore the passageways of the Devil in the human body also become narrower. This is since the Devil flows through the son of Adam like the flowing of blood, as is authentically recorded in the two Saheeh collections. So by fasting, the whisperings of the Devil are subdued and the strength of one’s desires and anger are subjugated. This is why the Prophet (saws) said: "O young men! Whoever amongst you can afford it, should get married, for it is the best means for lowering one’s gaze and the best way of keeping (one’s) private parts chaste. But whoever is not able to marry, then let him fast, for it has protection."

And from the wisdom behind fasting are the health benefits that come as a result of it, which are attained by in-taking little food, allowing the digestive system to rest for a specified time, which lets excess wastes and excrements that are harmful to the body be discharged.

So how great and profound is the wisdom of Allaah, and how beneficial are His commandments to His creatures!

O Allaah, give us comprehension of Your Religion and allow us to understand the inner secrets of Your commandments. Rectify for us the affairs of our Religion and our worldly life. And forgive us and our parents and all the Muslims, by Your mercy, O Most Merciful. And may the peace and blessings of Allaah be on Muhammad (saws) and on his family and all his Companions.

The virtues of Ramadaan

Praise be to Allaah.

Ramadaan is one of the twelve Arabic months. It is a month which is venerated in the Islamic religion, and it is distinguished from the other months by a number of characteristics and virtues, including the following:

Ramadan2

1 – Allaah has made fasting this month the fourth pillar of Islam, as He says (interpretation of the meaning):

“The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur’aan, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Sawm (fasts) that month…”

[al-Baqarah 2:185]

and it was narrated in al-Saheehayn (al-Bukhaari, 8; Muslim, 16) from the hadeeth of Ibn ‘Umar that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Islam is built on five (pillars): the testimony that there is no god except Allaah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allaah; establishing prayer; paying zakaah; fasting Ramadaan; and Hajj to the House (the Ka’bah).”

2 – Allaah revealed the Qur’aan in this month, as He says in the verse quoted above (interpretation of the meaning):

“The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur’aan, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong)…”

[al-Baqarah 2:185]

And Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Verily, We have sent it (this Qur’aan) down in the Night of Al-Qadr (Decree).”

[al-Qadr 97:1]

3 – Allaah has made Laylat al-Qadr in this month, which is better than a thousand months, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Verily, We have sent it (this Qur’aan) down in the Night of Al-Qadr (Decree).

And what will make you know what the Night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is?

The Night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is better than a thousand months (i.e. worshipping Allaah in that night is better than worshipping Him a thousand months, i.e. 83 years and 4 months).

Therein descend the angels and the Rooh [Jibreel (Gabriel)] by Allaah’s Permission with all Decrees,

(All that night), there is peace (and goodness from Allaah to His believing slaves) until the appearance of dawn”

[al-Qadar 97:1-5]

“We sent it (this Qur’aan) down on a blessed night [(i.e. the Night of Al-Qadr) in the month of Ramadan — the 9th month of the Islamic calendar]. Verily, We are ever warning [mankind that Our Torment will reach those who disbelieve in Our Oneness of Lordship and in Our Oneness of worship]”

[al-Dukhaan 44:3]

Allaah has blessed Ramadaan with Laylat al-Qadr. Explaining the great status of this blessed night, Soorat al-Qadr was revealed, and there are many ahaadeeth which also speak of that, such as the hadeeth of Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There has come to you Ramadaan, a blessed month which Allaah has enjoined you to fast, during which the gates of heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and the rebellious devils are chained up. In it there is a night which is better than a thousand months, and whoever is deprived of its goodness is indeed deprived.”

Narrated by al-Nasaa’i, 2106; Ahmad, 8769. classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb, 999.

And Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever spends Laylat al-Qadr in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, will be forgiven his previous sins.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1910; Muslim, 760.

Ramadan_01

4 – Allaah has made fasting Ramadaan and spending its nights in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward a means of forgiveness of sins, as was proven in al-Saheehayn (al-Bukhaari, 2014; Muslim, 760) from the hadeeth of Abu Hurayrah according to which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever fasts Ramadaan out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.” And al-Bukhaari (2008) and Muslim (174) also narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever spends the nights of Ramadaan in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.”

The Muslims are unanimously agreed that it is Sunnah to pray qiyaam at night in Ramadaan. Al-Nawawi said that what is meant by praying qiyaam in Ramadaan is to pray Taraweeh, i.e., one achieves what is meant by qiyaam by praying Taraaweeh.

5 – In this month, Allaah opens the gates of Paradise and closes the gates of Hell, and chains up the devils, as is stated in al-Saheehayn (al-Bukhaari, 1898; Muslim, 1079), from the hadeeth of Abu Hurayrah who said that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “When Ramadaan comes, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained up.”

6 – Every night Allaah has people whom He redeems from the Fire. Imam Ahmad (5/256) narrated from the hadeeth of Abu Umaamah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “At every breaking of the fast, Allaah has people whom He redeems.” Al-Mundhiri said: there is nothing wrong with its isnaad; and it was classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb, 987.

Al-Bazzaar (Kashf 962) narrated that Abu Sa’eed said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah has people whom He redeems every day and night – i.e., in Ramadaan – and every Muslim every day and night has a prayer that is answered.”

7 – Fasting Ramadaan is a means of expiation for the sins committed since the previous Ramadaan, so long as one avoids major sins. It was proven in Saheeh Muslim (233) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The five daily prayers, from one Jumu’ah to the next and from one Ramadaan to the next are expiation for (sins committed) in between, so long as you avoid major sins.”

Ramadan_02

8 – Fasting in Ramadaan is equivalent to fasting ten months, as is indicated by the hadeeth in Saheeh Muslim (1164) narrated from Abu Ayyoob al-Ansaari: “Whoever fasts Ramadaan then follows it with six days of Shawwaal, it will be like fasting for a lifetime.” Ahmad (21906) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever fasts Ramadaan, a month is like ten months, and fasting six days after al-Fitr will complete the year.”

9 – Whoever prays qiyaam in Ramadaan with the imam until he finishes, it will be recorded for him that he spent the whole night in prayer, because of the report narrated by Abu Dawood (1370) and others from the hadeeth of Abu Dharr (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever prays qiyaam with the imam until he finishes, it will be recorded for him that he spent the whole night in prayer.” Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Salaat al-Taraaweeh, p. 15

10 – ‘Umrah in Ramadaan is equivalent to Hajj. Al-Bukhaari (1782) and Muslim (1256) narrated that Ibn ‘Abbaas said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to a woman among the Ansaar, “What kept you from doing Hajj with us?” She said, “We only had two camels that we used for bringing water.” So her husband and son had gone for Hajj on one camel, and he left the other for them to use for bringing water.” He said, “When Ramadaan comes, go for ‘Umrah, for ‘Umrah in Ramadaan is equivalent to Hajj.” According to a report narrated by Muslim, “… is equivalent to doing Hajj with me.”

11 – It is Sunnah to observe i’tikaaf (retreat for the purpose of worship) in Ramadaan, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) always did that, as it was narrated in the hadeeth of ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to spend the last ten days of Ramadaan in i’tikaaf until he passed away, then his wives observed i’tikaaf after him.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1922; Muslim, 1172.

12 – It is mustahabb in the sense of being strongly recommended in Ramadaan to study the Qur’aan together and to read it a great deal. You may study the Qur’aan together by reciting it to someone else and by having someone else recite it to you. The evidence that this is mustahabb is the fact that Jibreel used to meet the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) every night in Ramadaan and study the Qur’aan with him. Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 6; Muslim, 2308.

Reading Qur’aaan is mustahabb in general, but more so in Ramadaan.

13 – It is mustahabb in Ramadaan to offer iftaar to those who are fasting, because of the hadeeth of Zayd ibn Khaalid al-Juhani (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever gives iftaar to one who is fasting will have a reward like his, without that detracting from the fasting person’s reward in the slightest.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 807; Ibn Maajah, 1746; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, 647.

[Above quotes by Shaykh Abdul Hakeem Murad]

The young Abu hanifah

A Wise Young Muslim Boy:

Imam Muwaffaq Ibn Ahmad al-Makki

[Adapted into English from "Manâqib Abî Hanîfah" written by Imâm Muwaffaq Ibn Ahmad al-Makki (d. 568 Hijri). Dar al - Kitâb al-'Arabiy, Beirut, 1981/1401H.]

Many years ago, during the time of the Tabi'n (the generation of Muslims after the Sahabah), Baghdad was a great city of Islam. In fact, it was the capital of the Islamic Empire and, because of the great number of scholars who lived there, it was the center of Islamic knowledge.

3752639534_f1638b95e0

One day, the ruler of Rome at the time sent an envoy to Baghdad with three challenges for the Muslims. When the messenger reached the city, he informed the khalîfah that he had three questions which he challenged the Muslims to answer.

The khalîfah gathered together all the scholars of the city and the Roman messenger climbed upon a high platform and said, "I have come with three questions. If you answer them, then I will leave with you a great amount of wealth which I have brought from the king of Rome." As for the questions, they were: "What was there before Allah?" "In which direction does Allah face?" "What is Allah engaged in at this moment?"

The great assembly of people were silent. Can you think of answers to these questions?) In the midst of these brilliant scholars and students of Islam was a man looking on with his young son. "O my dear father! I will answer him and silence him!" said the youth. So the boy sought the permission of the khalifah to give the answers and he was given the permission to do so.

The Roman addressed the young Muslim and repeated his first question, "What was there before Allah?"

The boy asked, "Do you know how to count?"

"Yes," said the man.

"Then count down from ten!" So the Roman counted down, "ten, nine, eight, ..." until he reached "one" and he stopped counting

"But what comes before 'one'?" asked the boy.

"There is nothing before one- that is it!" said the man.

"Well then, if there obviously is nothing before the arithmetic 'one', then how do you expect that there should be anything before the 'One' who is Absolute Truth, All-Eternal, Everlasting the First, the Last, the Manifest, the Hidden?"

Now the man was surprised by this direct answer which he could not dispute. So he asked, "Then tell me, in which direction is Allah facing?"

"Bring a candle and light it," said the boy, "and tell me in which direction the flame is facing."

"But the flame is just light- it spreads in each of the four directions,

North, South, East and West.It does not face any one direction only," said the man in wonderment.

The boy cried, "Then if this physical light spreads in all four directions such that you cannot tell me which way it faces, then what do you expect of the Nur-us-Samawati-wal-'Ard: Allah - the Light of the Heavens and the Earth!? Light upon Light, Allah faces all directions at all times."

The Roman was stupified and astounded that here was a young child answering his challenges in such a way that he could not argue against the proofs. So, he desperately wanted to try his final question. But before doing so, the boy said,

"Wait! You are the one who is asking the questions and I am the one who is giving the answer to these challenges. It is only fair that you should come down to where I am standing and that I should go up where you are right now, in order that the answers may be heard as clearly as the questions."

This seemed reasonable to the Roman, so he came down from where he was standing and the boy ascended the platform. Then the man repeated his final challenge, "Tell me, what is Allah doing at this moment?"

The boy proudly answered, "At this moment, when Allah found upon this high platform a liar and mocker of Islam, He caused him to descend and brought him low. And as for the one who believed in the Oneness of Allâh, He raised him up and established the Truth."

" Every day in (new) Splendour doth He (shine).[Surah ar-Rahman; 55: 29]."

The Roman had nothing to say except to leave and return back to his country, defeated. Meanwhile, this young boy grew up to become one of the most famous scholars of Islam. Allah, the Exalted, blessed him with special wisdom and knowledge of the deen. His name was Abu Hanîfah (rahmatullah 'alayhi- Allah have mercy on him) and he is known today as Imâm-e-A'dham, the Great Imam and scholar of Islam.

Make Dhikr (Remembrance of Allah ) wherever you may be

Make Dhikr (Remembrance of Allah ) wherever you may be

!cid_image035_jpg@01C9C327

Dhikr of Allah Ta'ala is the most excellent act of Allah's servants and is stressed over a hundred times in the Holy Qur'an. It is the most praiseworthy work to earn Allah's pleasure, the most effective weapon to overcome the enemy, and the most deserving of deeds in reward. It is the flag of Islam, the polish of hearts, the essence of the science of faith, the immunisation against hypocrisy, the head of worship, and the key of all success. There are no restrictions on the modality, frequency, or timing of dhikr whatsoever. The restrictions on modality pertain to certain specific obligatory acts which are not the issue here, such as Salat. The Shari`a (Islamic Law) is clear and everyone knows what they have to do. Indeed, the Prophet (sallallahu 'alahi wasallam) said that the People of Paradise will only regret one thing: not having made enough dhikr in the world! Are not those who are making up reasons to discourage others from making dhikr afraid of Allah Ta'ala in this tremendous matter?

What The Qur'an Says About Dhikr-Allah

"Those who remember Allah while standing , sitting, and lying on their sides" (3:191)

(Quran )

"Those men and women who engage much in Allah's praise. For them has Allah prepared forgiveness and a great reward." (33:35(Quran )

.

"He is successful who purifies himself, and remembers the name of his Lord, and so prays." (87:14-15)

Allah Ta'ala said in His Book: "And mention the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with a complete devotion" (73:8).

"Those who believe, and whose hearts find comfort in the remembrance of Allah! " Behold in the Remembrance of Allah do hearts find satisfaction." (13-28)

"O ye who believe let not your riches or your children divert you from the Remembrance of Allah if any act thus, the loss is their own." (63:9)

"Then do ye remember Me I will remember you." (2-152)

"Men whom neither traffic nor merchandise can divert from Remembrance of Allah nor from regular Salaat, nor from regular practice of Zakaat." (24-37)

"He who turns away from the remembrance of His Lord He will cause him to undergo a severe Penalty." (72-17)

!cid_image002_jpg@01C9C327

What Ahadith Say About Dhikr-Allah

Hadith Qudsi, "Those that remember Me in their heart, I remember them in My heart; and those that remember Me in a gathering (i.e. that make mention of Me), I remember them (i.e. make mention of them) in a gathering better than theirs."

Dhikr in a gathering can only be done aloud and in unison. The above hadith thus constitutes proof that dhikr done outloud in a gathering is an exalted kind of dhikr which is mentioned at the Highest Assembly (al-mala' al-a`la.)

Hadhrat Jabir (Radi Allahu anhu) reported that the Prophet (Peace be upon him), said: "The best remembrance of Allah is to repeat la ilaha illallah and the best prayer (du'a) is al-hamdu lillah (all praise belongs to Allah)." (Narrated by Nasa'i, Ibn Majah, and Hakim who declared its chain sound)

In Bukhari and Muslim: The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said that Allah Ta'ala has angels roaming the roads to find the people of dhikr, i.e. those who say La Ilaha Illallah and similar expressions, and when they find a group of people (qawm) reciting dhikr, they call each other and encompass them in layers until the first heaven -- the location of which is in Allah's knowledge. (This is to say, an unlimited number of angels are going to be over that group).

This is further indicated by the hadith Qudsi which runs: "Allah says: I am to my servant as he expects of Me, I am with him when he remembers Me. If he remembers Me in his heart, I remember him to Myself, and if he remembers me in an assembly, I mention him in an assembly better than his..." (Bukhari and Muslim)

Thus, silent dhikr is differentiated from dhikr said outloud by His saying: "Remembers Me within himself," meaning: "silently," and "in an assembly," meaning "aloud."

The Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: hatta yaqulu majnun "Remember Allah Ta'ala as much as you want, until people say that you are crazy and foolish"

(Narrated by Ahmad in his Musnad, Ibn Hibban in his Sahih, and al-Hakim who declared it sahih); that is: do not care about them!

Ibn `Umar (Radi Allahu Anhu) reported that the Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: "When you pass by the gardens of Paradise, avail yourselves of them." The Companions asked: "What are the gardens of Paradise, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied: "The circles of dhikr. There are roaming angels of Allah who go about looking for the circles of dhikr, and when they find them they surround them closely."

(This include Quran and Durud Shareef Khatam). Tirmidhi narrated it (hasan gharib) and Ahmad.

Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri and Abu Huraira (Radi Allahu anhum ajma'een)reported that the Prophet (Peace be upon him) said, "When any group of men remember Allah, angels surround them and mercy covers them, tranquility descends upon them, and Allah mentions them to those who are with Him." Narrated by Muslim, Tirmidhi, Ahmad, Ibn Majah, and Bayhaqi.

Muslim, Ahmad, and Tirmidhi narrate from Mu`awiya (Radi Allahu anhu) that the Prophet (Peace be upon him) went out to a circle of his Companions and asked: "What made you sit here?" They said: "We are sitting here in order to remember Allah (nadhkurullaha) and to glorify Him (wa nahmaduhu) because He guided us to the path of Islam and he conferred favours upon us." Thereupon he adjured them by Allah and asked if that was the only purpose of their sitting there. They said: "By Allah, we are sitting here for this purpose only." At this the Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: "I am not asking you to take an oath because of any misapprehension against you, but only because Jibraeel ('alahis salam) came to me and informed me that Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, was telling the angels that He is proud of you!" Note that the hadith stated jalasna -- we sat -- in the plural, not singular. It referred to an association of people in a group, not one person.

The Prophet, peace be upon him, would often tell his Companions, "Shall I tell you about the best of deeds, the most pure in the sight of your Lord, about the one that is of the highest order and is far better for you than spending gold and silver, even better for you than meeting your enemies in the battlefield where you strike at their necks and they at yours?" The Companions replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah!" The Prophet, peace be upon him, said, "Remembrance of Allah." (Narrated by Tirmidhi, Ahmad, and Hakim who declared its chain of narrators sound)

!cid_image033_jpg@01C9C327

The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: "He who loves something mentions it much".

Qadi Thana'ullah Panipati said in his Tafsir Mazhari (10:111): "Know that this verse points to the repetition of the name of the Essence (ism al-dhat)," that is: "Allah." The same meaning is intimated also by the end of verse 6:91 in Surat al-An`am: "Say ALLAH. Then leave them to their play and vain wrangling."

The Oneness of Allah

Islam - The Oneness of Allah:

445937923_bf218d5d69

We sent no Messenger before you without revealing to him, "There is no god but Me, so worship Me (alone)" (Al-Anbiya 21:25).

Allah, ta^ala said in the Qur’an:

لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْءٌ
Laysa kamithlihi shay’.
Ayah 11 of Suratush-Shura means: {Nothing resembles Him (Allah) in any way.}

This means that Allah, ta^ala, does not resemble any of His creations.

Allah, ta^ala, said in the Qur’an:

وَلِلّهِ الْمَثَلُ الأَعْلَىَ
Wa lillahil-mathalul-a^la.

Ayah 60 of Suratun-Nahl means: {Allah has the perfect Attributes that are not similar to the attributes of others.} Everything other than Allah is created (i.e., this entire universe).

Allah is the only One attributed with Eternity. That is, Allah has no beginning and likewise His Attributes are eternal, without a beginning. The attributes of other than Allah are created; they change from one state to another. Allah is clear of change. He is the One Who creates changes in His creations, but He does not change. He is the One Who creates development in His creations, but He does not develop.

2921276786_dc1789c191

The foundation of the Islamic faith is belief in the Oneness of Almighty Allah - the Allah of Abraham, Noah, Moses and Jesus. Islam teaches that a pure belief in One Allah is intuitive in human beings and thus fulfils the natural inclination of the soul. As such, Islam's concept of Allah is straightforward, unambiguous and easy to understand. Islam teaches that the hearts, minds and souls of human beings are fitting receptacles for clear divine revelation, and that Allah 's revelations to man are not clouded by self-contradictory mysteries or irrational ideas. As such, Islam teaches that even though Allah cannot be fully comprehended and grasped by our finite human minds, He also does not expect us to accept absurd or demonstrably false beliefs about Him.

According to the teachings of Islam, Almighty Allah is absolutely One and His Oneness should never be compromised by associating partners with Him - neither in worship nor in belief. Due to this, Muslims are required to maintain a direct relationship with Allah, and therefore all intermediaries are absolutely forbidden. From the Islamic standpoint, believing in the Oneness of Allah means to realize that all prayer and worship should be exclusively for Allah, and that He alone deserves such titles as "Lord" and "Saviour". Some religions, even though they believe on "One God", do not make all of their worship and prayers for Him alone. Also, they also give the title of "Lord" to beings that are not All-Knowing, All-Powerful and Un-Changing - even according to their own scriptures. Suffice it to say that according to Islam, it is not enough that people believe that" Allah is One", but they must actualize this belief by proper conduct. In short, in the Islamic concept of Allah, which is completely based on Divine Revelation, there is no ambiguity in divinity - Allah is Allah and man is man. Since Allah is the only Creator and continual Sustainer of the Universe, He is transcendent above His creation - the Creator and the creature never mix. Islam teaches that Allah has a unique nature and that He is free from gender, human weaknesses and beyond anything which human beings can imagine. The Qur'an teaches that the signs and proofs of Allah's wisdom, power and existence are evident in the world around us. As such, Allah calls on man to ponder over the creation in order to build a better understanding of his Creator. Muslims believe that Allah is Loving, Compassionate and Merciful, and that He is concerned with the daily affairs of human beings.

2060993156_297234de3a

In this, Islam strikes a unique balance between false religious and philosophical extremes. Some religions and philosophies portray God as just an impersonal "Higher Power" who is uninterested, or unaware, of the life of each individual human. Other religions tend to give God human qualities and teach that He is present in His creation, by being incarnate in someone, something - or even everything. In Islam, however, Almighty Allah has clarified the truth by letting mankind know that He is "Compassionate", "Merciful", "Loving" and the "Answerer of Prayers".

But He as also emphasized strongly that "there is nothing like unto Him” and that He is high above time, space and His creation. Finally, it should be mentioned that the Allah that Muslims worship is the same Allah that Jews and Christians worship - because there is only one Allah. It is unfortunate that some people mistakenly believe that Muslims worship a different Allah than Jews and Christians, and that "Allah" is just the “Allah of the Arabs". This myth, which has been propagated by the enemies of Islam, is completely false since the word "Allah" is simply the Arabic name for Almighty Allah. It is the same word for God which is used by Arabic-speaking Jews and Christians.

However, it should be clarified that even though Muslims worship the same Allah as Jews and Christian, their concept of Him differs somewhat from the beliefs of other religions - mainly because it is based completely on Divine Revelation from Allah. For example, Muslims reject the Christian belief that Allah is a Trinity, not only because the Qur'an rejects it, but also because if this was Allah 's true nature, He would have clearly revealed it to Abraham, Noah, Jesus and all of the other prophets.

Heart of the Muslim (nasheed)

!cid_image040_jpg@01C9C327

Heart

Heart of a Muslim

Heart of a Muslim

384323992_5fe67df84d

Looking up at the sky, searching for Allah most High
He rejected the way of worshipping Gods of clay
Prophet Ebrahim knew that Allah was near
And that the heart of a Muslim is sincere

Under the hot burning sun, he declared God is one
Though with stones on his chest, his Imaan would not rest
The Muadhin knew that right would conquer wrong
And the heart of a Muslim must be strong

Chorus:
It's the heart of a Muslim through the guidance of Islam
That makes you fair and kind and helpful to your fellow man
So living as a Muslim means that you must play a part
Allah looks not at how you look, but what is in your heart

In our poor meager state, little food on our plate
Mother said she was glad, always sharing what we had
When I asked how can we share what's not enough
She said the heart of a Muslim's filled with love

He said its time you should know, you will learn as you grow
That some people around will do what's bad to bring you down
Father said to be a star that's shining bright
For the heart of a Muslim does what's right

Chorus

So whatever you, make sure your words are true
Honesty is the best, because life is a test
Even if it hurts so much you want to cry
For the heart of a Muslim does not lie

O Lord! I here I am!

Lately I have been wondering so
Wondering bout what do I know
About this life and where do I go
After I die, how can it be so?

That some people say that it all ends
When into my grave I descend
But how can my aim of heaven be flawed
When my only wish is to be with my Lord

Chorus:
Oh Lord, here I am, pleading at your door
Send me Your mercy, send me Your peace or I am lost for sure
Oh Lord, here I am, yearning for the / your cure
This humble servant will be diverted from you no moreno more

And so I was called to the places of my Lord
The places my Lord has blessed for all
Joining the millions that day I walked
For my eternal salvation I sought
And standing before him with all I have
two empty hands and a humbled man
I pledged my very life to Him, Oh Lord, here I am

True happiness and peace

Real happiness and peace can be found in submitting to the commands of the Creator and the Sustainer of this world God has said in the Quran:

Truly, in remembering God do hearts find rest. (Quran, 13:28)

Islamic6

On the other hand, the one who turns away from the Quran will have a life of hardship in this world. God has said: But whoever turns away from the Quran, he will have a hard life, and We will raise him up blind on the Day of Judgment. (Quran, 20:124)

This may explain why some people commit suicide while they enjoy the material comfort money can buy. For example, look at Cat Stevens (now Yusuf Islam), formerly a famous pop singer who used to earn sometimes more than 150.000$a night. After he converted to Islam, he found true happiness and peace, which he had not found in material success

Forgiveness for All Previous Sins When someone converts to Islam, God forgives all of his previous sins and evil deeds. A man called Amr came to the Prophet Muhammad and said, “Give me your right hand so that I may give you my pledge of loyalty.” The Prophet stretched out his right hand. Amr withdrew his hand. The Prophet said: {What has happened to you, O Amr?} He replied, “I intend to lay down a condition.” The Prophet asked: {What condition do you intend to put forward?} Amr said, “That God forgive my sins.” The Prophet said: {Didn’t you know that converting to Islam erases all previous sins?}

Translation+from+Quran+-+7

After converting to Islam, the person will be rewarded for his or her good and bad deeds according to the following saying of the Prophet Muhammad : {Your Lord, Who is blessed and exalted, is most merciful. If someone intends to do a good deed but does not do it, a good deed will be recorded for him. And if he does do it, (a reward of) ten to seven hundred or many more times (the reward of the good deed), will be recorded for him. And if someone intends to do a bad deed but does not do it, a good deed will be recorded for him. And if he does do it, a bad deed will be recorded against him or God will wipe it out.}

The Miracle Brush

What is this miracle brush?

Prod_meswak_03
Miswak is scientifically formulated, Ayurvedic toothpaste, from pure extract of the Miswak plant, 'Salvadore Persica' - the famous 'Toothbrush Tree' used for centuries. The astringent and bactericidal properties of Miswak help reduce tooth decay, fight plaque and prevent gum disease.

Dental Health and the Miswak

Good dental health is more than the absence of disease or tooth decay in your mouth," says David Kennedy, DDS and author of How to Save Your Teeth (Kennedy, pg.3). "It is an integral part of your well being. People with exceptionally healthy bodies usually have healthy teeth and gums." Teeth are also a blessing from Allah. It is said that, "If the eyes are a window to the soul then the mouth is the doorway to the body" (Stay, p.5).

Teeth play an important function in the digestive process. They are important in helping people to speak and in upholding one's facial structure. Without teeth, nobody would be able to say anything comprehendible, if at all. Without teeth you would have to swallow your food without being able to chew it first, which is unhealthy for the digestive system.

However, despite their important functions, teeth are the least cared for part of the body. But, cleaning one's teeth does not have to be complicated. Eating unprocessed food and staying away from sugary sweets are simple keys to good dental health.

Caries, or dental decay, is the most common disease affecting the teeth. People eating large amounts of processed foods or sweets and then forgetting - or not wanting - to brush their teeth afterwards, end up causing easily avoidable decaying of the teeth. While chewing food, small pieces tend to become stuck to the surface the teeth, as well as in between them. Leaving those pieces there for a long period of time causes the food to go bad, which in turn attracts bacteria that dig holes in the teeth. Most people do not realize the damage that is being done until the tooth is already decayed and must be pulled out by a dentist.

In addition, poor dental health also leads to bad breath and many other diseases, including malocclusion, periodontal diseases or even oral cancer.

David Kennedy documents that the devastating effects of sweet-rich diets were documented as early as 1938. In many industrialized countries, dental decay is becoming less common due to renewed awareness and efforts towards dental health. However, in the developing world, where previously many people were free of dental decay, it is becoming increasingly common (Kennedy, pg. 10).

Dr. Weston Price, a dentist, set out on a world expedition to discover why, as a general rule, societies untouched by modern civilization had excellent teeth, whereas civilized societies had comparatively poor teeth. He compiled a photographic record of his travels and concluded that diet - not poor brushing habits, was the culprit (Kennedy, p.2). However, proper care of the teeth was the second most influential factor in people with healthy teeth.

According to researchers, the people with the best teeth are not those who have the fanciest sonic toothbrushes - but those who use their toothbrushes regularly and after each snack and meal. In fact, ancient cultures and developing nations lacked the technology to create such machines for the teeth, yet there have always been reliable ways to clean them.

American Indians used fresh bark from the prickly ash tree to clean their teeth. The sap from this tree kills bacteria. Mojave Desert Indians used twigs from the cresote bush and rural villagers in India used the neem tree.

Muslims use what is called a miswak. A miswak, or siwak, is a small stick with which the teeth are rubbed and cleaned. The end is shaped into a brush through biting or chewing, which serve to separate the fibers and release the healing herbal powers of the twig. Some advantages of the miswak are that is does not require toothpaste, water or a special area to use it, and may be easily carried in one's purse or pocket. It is also disposable and biodegradable - therefore, it is the ultimate environmentally safe toothbrush. Some people even believe it works better than a toothbrush.

Head-l

Nevertheless, a more compelling reason to use the miswak is that it is Sunnah to do so.
Abu Hurairah reported that Prophet Mohammad (saws) said, "Were it not that I might overburden believers, I would have ordered them to use the miswak at every prayer" (Imam Muslim, Vol. 1).

According to researchers it is this regular cleaning of the teeth, along with a proper diet, that makes the difference between healthy and unhealthy teeth. Keeping your teeth clean is as important Islamically as it is medically. It is as difficult to envision speaking to Allah (through prayer) with bad breath and dirty teeth as it is to envision speaking to a friend when you are suffering from bad breath and dirty teeth.

The Prophet himself (saws), used to use the miswak before every prayer (Sahih Muslim, Vol.1).
Modern science suggests we would do well to follow his example.

*!* Beauty in Refusing the Seduction of Women! *!*

It is reported that Abu Bakr al-Miski was once asked , “We always find a good odor emanating from you – why or how?”

.

He answered, “By Allah, for years now I have not used any perfume, but the reason for the good smell has to do with an ordeal that I passed through.

A woman once tricked me into entering her home. Then she closed and locked the door behind her, after which she began to seduce me. I became utterly bewildered as to what I should do, for I had no options before me.

I said to her, “I need to go and purify myself.”She ordered her servant to take me to the bathroom, and when I entered it, I took faeces in my hand and wiped it all over my body. Then I returned to her in that state. Shocked to see me like that, the woman ordered that I be removed from her home. I left and immediately had a bath. That very night I saw a dream; in it, it was said to me,“You have done that which no else has ever done. I will make your smell good and pure in this world and in the hereafter.”

When I woke up , the smell of perfume was emanating from my body, and it has continued to emanate from my body until this very moment.”Taken from ‘al-Mawa’idh wal-Majalis’ page 224

Lord Most Gracious and Most Merciful

Lord of all worlds

(All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.) (Al-Fatihah 1:2)

The phrase rabbul `alamin, which means Lord of all worlds, has the implied meanings of Creator, Owner, Sustainer, and Provider of t he worlds. However, in Arabic, the word rabb has implications that exceed those of the word Lord in English. It refers to the one who takes care of his or her family both morally and financially.

Surat Al-Fatihah, points out the relationship between the word rabb and the verb rabba, which means to develop, to breed, to bring up, or to grow. This relationship shows the connotations of mercy in the word rabb.Allah magnificently puts life into the seeds of wheat, corn, and dates and cultivates all seeds until they become whole plants, He does the same with all kinds of creation.

The word rabb implies power and authority. Hence, Allah followed this verse with a verse mentioning the two attributes Most Gracious and Most Merciful, which imply mercy and love. The Islamic concept of Allah ,the Qur'an, starts with describing Allah as a Loving and Merciful Supreme Being, so that the readers may willingly accept His instructions in the Qur'an.

Muslims should thank Allah because He has enlightened them regarding His Being and because He has freed them from the confusing ideas about the concept of God, which dominated the world before Islam. Islam frees Muslims from the mythological and illusionary concepts of terrifying and revengeful gods that were common in the Greek and Roman cultures.

The relationship between the two attributes (Ar-Rahman and Ar-Rahim) is similar to the relationship between the attributes rich and generous .Muslims' understanding of the concept of the Loving and Merciful God makes them aware of Allah's subjugation of nature for the benefit of humans. Muslims do not fear natural phenomena . They love the elements of nature, as these elements were created by the same Loving God Who created humans. Muslims regard these elements as blessings from Allah. In the Qur'an, Allah declares that He has subjugated these elements for the service of man.

He says,
(Allah is He Who created the heavens and the earth and sent down water from the clouds; then [He] brought forth with it fruits as a sustenance for you, and He has made the ships subservient to you that they might run their course in the sea by His command, and He has made the rivers subservient to you. And He has made subservient to you the sun and the moon pursuing their courses, and He has made subservient to you the night and the day.) (Ibrahim 14:32–33)

The relationship between the two attributes (Ar-Rahman and Ar-Rahim) is similar to the relationship between the attributes rich and generous .

A goodly word as a goodly tree

The Parable of the Word of Islam and the Word of Kufr

See you not how Allah sets forth a parable? A goodly word as a goodly tree, whose root is firmly fixed, and its branches (reach) to the sky.

Giving its fruit at all times, by the leave of its Lord, and Allah sets forth parables for mankind in order that they may remember.

And the parable of an evil word is that of an evil tree uprooted from the surface of earth, having no stability.

[Surah Ibrahim Ayah 24-26]

'Ali bin Abi Talhah reported that 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas commented that Allah's statement,

a parable: a goodly word,

refers to testifying to La ilaha illallah, (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah) while,

as a goodly tree,

refers to the believer, and that,

whose root is firmly fixed,

indicates that La ilaha illallah, (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah) is firm in the believers' heart,

and its branches (reach) to the sky.

with which the believer's works are ascended to the heaven. [At-Tabari 16:567]

Similar is said by Ad-Dahhak, Sa'id bin Jubayr, 'Ikrimah, Mujahiid and several others [At-Tabari 16:572-573] . They stated that this parable describes the believers deed, good statements and good actions. The believer's deeds, good statements and good actions. The believer is just like the beneficial date tree, always having good actions ascending at all times, by day and by night.

Al-Bukhari recorded that 'Abdullah bin 'Umar said, "We were with the Mesenger of Allah when he asked,

"Tell me about a tree that resembles the Muslim, the leaves of which do not fall in summer or winter and gives its fruit at all times by the leave of its Lord."

Ibn 'Umar said, "I thought of the date palm tree, but felt shy to answer when I saw that Abu Bakr and 'Umar did not talk. When they did not give an answer, the Messenger of Allah said,

"It is the date palm tree."

When we departed, I said to 'Umar, 'My father, by Allah! I thought that it was the date tree.' He said, 'Why did you not speak then? I said, 'I saw you were silent and I felt shy to say anything.' 'Umar said, 'Had you said it, it would have been more precious to me than such things (i.e., would have been very precious to me).'"
[Fath Al-Bari 8:228]

'Abdullah bin 'abbas said that,

as a goodly tree,

is a tree in Paradise [At-Tabari 16:573]. Allah said next,

Giving its fruit at all times,

It is said that it means by day and by ight. and they say that describes the believer as a tree that always has fruits during summer and winter, by night and by day. This is the parable of the believer whose good works ascend to heaven by day and by night and at all times,

by the leave of its Lord,

thus earning perfection and becoming beneficial, plentiful, pure and blessed,

and Allah sets forth parables for mankind in order that they may remember.

Allah said next,

And the parable of an evil word is that of an evil tree

describing the disbeliver, for it has no basis or stability. It is similar to the colocynth tree (a very bitter, unscented plant) which is also called, 'Ash-Shiryan'. Shu'bah narrated that Mu'awiyah bin Abi Qurrah narrated that Anas bin Malik said that it is the colocynth [At Tabari 16:569].

Allah said,

uprooted,

meaning, was cutoff from the root,

from the surface of earth, having no stability.

therefore, existing without basis or stability, just like Kufr (disbelief), for it does not have a basis or roots. Surely, the works of the disbelievers will never ascend nor will any of them be accepted.

Tafsir Ibn Kathir

Conscience

A man asked Muhammad what was the mark whereby he might know the reality of his faith. Muhammad said, "If thou derive pleasure from the good which thou hast performed and thou be grieved for the evil which thou hast committed, thou art a true believer." The man said. "In what doth a fault really consist?" Muhammad said, "when action pricketh thy conscience, forsake it."

All actions are judged by the motive prompting them.

The Way in Which the Prophet Prescribed Voluntary Fasts

The Way in Which the Prophet Prescribed Voluntary Fasts

1. Three days every month:

Abu Zharr al-Ghifari reported:
"The Messenger of Allah ordered us to fast for three days of every month--that is, on the days of the full moon (the 13th, 14th, and 15th of the islamic month). And he said: It is like fasting the whole year.'"

[an-Nasai and Ibn Hibban]

2. Mondays and Thursdays:

Abu Hurairah reported that the most the Prophet would fast would be Monday and Thursday. He was asked about that and he said:
"The actions are presented on every Monday and Thursday. Allah forgives every Muslim or every believer, except for those who are boycotting each other. He says [about them]: Leave them.'"
[Ahmad]

3. The Maximum Fast of Every Second Day:

Narrated Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-As:
The Prophet said to me:

"You fast daily all the year and pray every night all the night?"
I replied in the affirmative. The Prophet said,
"If you keep on doing this, your eyes will become weak and your body will get tired. He who fasts all the year is as he who did not fast at all. The fasting of three days (a month) will be equal to the tasting of the whole year."
I replied,
"I have the power for more than this."
The Prophet said,
"Then fast like the fasting of David who used to fast on alternate days and would never flee from the battle field, on meeting the enemy.
[Bukhari]

Special Times for Fasting

1. The month of al-Muharram:

Abu Hurairah reported that he (the Messenger of Allah) was asked as to which prayer was most excellent after the prescribed prayer, and which fast was most excellent after the month of Ramadan. He said:
"Prayer offered in the middle of the night and the most excellent fast after (fasting) in the month of Ramadan is the fast in Allahs month al-Muharram. "
[Muslim]

2. The day of Ashura: Ibn Abbas reported:

"The Prophet came to Madinah and found the Jews fasting on the day of Ashura. He said to them:
'What is this fast?
They said: A great day. Allah saved Moses and the tribes of Israel from their enemies on this day and therefore, Moses fasted on this day.
The Prophet said: We have more of a right to Moses than you, so he fasted on that day also and ordered the people to fast on that day."
[Bukhari and Muslim]

3. Six days of Shawwal:

Abu Ayyub al-An sari reported that the Prophet, upon whom be peace, said:
"Whoever fasts during the month of Ramadan and then follows it with six days of Shawwal will be [rewarded] as if he had fasted the entire year." [Related by "the group,"
except for al-Bukhari and an Nasai]

4. Other specific days:

There is also evidence as Hafsah reported:
"There are five things that the Prophet never abandoned:
fasting the day of Ashura,
fasting the [first] ten [days of Dhul-Hijjah] ,
fasting three days of every month
and praying two Rakah before the dawn prayer."
[Ahmad and an-Nasai]

The Prophet (peace be upon him) would fast the first ten days of the month of Dhul-Hijjah. (The day of Arafat is the 9th day of Dhul-Hijjah)

May Allah, grant us all the strength of Iman and Taqwa to perform as many voluntary deeds as we can for His sake, Ameen.
